Often grouped together simply as Classical architecture, Greek and Roman buildings actually differ in many ways, both superficially and more fundamentally in their overall design and purpose.
Although it is easy to see why the untrained eye might view all Greek and Roman temples as identical, this video will show how differently the two cultures approached their built environment. With the use of diagrams as well as photos from all over the ancient Classical world, this is an exploration of the ways in which ancient architecture was used to create subtle but powerful effects and emotions on those who knew it at the time, and how it can still affect us even today.
