This lesson is brilliant! Me and my boyfriend want to learn this to surprise my Cretan dad for his 50th! Thank you so much! With a lot of practice we will do this! You have explained it simply so that even the hardest moves can be achievable!! If only we were closer to London!

technically there is no variation to it, pentozali is a pidikto from Xania, just like the pidikto from hrakleio is maleviziotis and sitia is steiakos (pidiktos) and anwgeianos pidiktos is from mulopotamos

Don’t even try to do any figoures… pentozali was originally only for men… that’s why it has so many figoures… women didn’t have so many rights in that period so they weren’t supposed or allowed to dance it… there dance should be shy and beautiful… now women can dance pentozali but they DONT do figoures… it’s very very wrong… and it’s bad when you see it… imagine a woman with a traditional Cretan clothing doing all of the men staff… just don’t do them it’s wrong on every level

my father (harilaos Piperakis)taught me and my brother to dance pentazali. He stressed you point your toes .its not like kicking a ball .woman put their hands on their hips. A Cretan man his arm was stretched out. Again you did not kick you pointed your toes. But I am 80 yrs. old now. And from wham I see the dances have no class. My opinion.

@@ProfitisEliasyou know so little of our culture… truly… you must be a fool if you really think that what you did was right… I mean come on… you don’t even come close to the original… the dance doesn’t have variations… when Δασκαλογιάννης wrote the melody and it was first danced there was ONE way of dancing it… and the man who loves his culture always wants to keep the original alive… don’t dance it if you don’t know it…
