This is what you might call a 'young warrior' zeimbekiko. All movement and fire, obviously trying to impress the young ladies (and probably succeeding...). Well, good luck to him! There is the 'Elder Warrior' zeimbekiko for those of us of more advanced years and more inward inclinations, slower, more intrsospective, more meditative. I guess there is zeimbekiko for all ages... But as a commentary elsewhere remarks, zeimbekiko doesn't make you a magkas, a levendi. You have to be one already in order to dance it. Oh how true...!

It mostly gives men (one man only, though sometimes other men kneel alongside them to 'assist') a chance to show their pathos and feeling in a singular way. Great to watch in person.

A great sense of real culture. Look at boys/mens how careful they look at every move and appreciate the most skillful and artistic ones. Then look at girls/ladies wondering: what a great dancing hero were them got from gods here. Even older people enjoying the dance, and showing their gratitude for the young dancer by sending him a drink. That's the essence of the greek culture, but we can find it in many more hypostases as well... Greets from Romania.

old folklore said that the name of the dance comes from the words Zei, as a derivative of Greek God Zeus, and the phrygian word bekos, which means bread according to Herodotus

The Zeybeks were not Greeks or Turkish or Bulgarians. They were an Ethnic Grooup residing in Thraki (now part of Boulgaria) and were sent to Mikra Asia (Now part of Turkey). Theie dance is mostly danced in Greece, but not only, it is not a Greek Dance.

Prima facie evidence would suggest that the recorded history of Greece covers a period in excess of 3,000 years. Many early relics of Greek civilisation are to be found in the various museums in Athens and Thessaloniki, although there have been a number of findings going back some 5,000 years to the Iron and Stone Ages
