Green Bee-eater - Merops orientalis - shot in May '12. Nesting appears to start before summer, going well into the monsoon. The parent(s) appear to be very devoted, bringing dragonfiles, butterflies and other insects in quick succession to the young who eagerly gulp them down. The adult is careful to kill the insect before giving the juvenile - and by doing so, it is probably also teaching the juvenile how to eat its prey....
The juvenile seen here is smaller and much paler than the adult; it also lacks the long central tail feather..
