Would it be ok to tack out the base coat prior to adding the camo fades on top? Any reason you dont?
@Gunner411
Жыл бұрын
Wet on wet gives better blending. If you tack out first your edges may be more distinct since the “overspray” would now be on top and not “mixing” in to the wet coat it was on top of.

How’s it goin? I have a question about cerakote and suppressors. They that silencer manufacturers use cerakote on suppressors but I’m not so sure about it. Can I cerakote or have my suppressor “cerakoted?”
@Gunner411
Жыл бұрын
Yes you can. There are different types of Cerakote that have different heat tolerances. For maximum heat resistance you may have limited colors but it is definitely possible

Hi, question Can I combine H series with E series?
@Gunner411

There are tricks where you probably could but E series isn’t really ideal for layering.

So you don’t sand blast first? Before applying Cerakote?

I follow all the proper prep. Degrease, sand blast, gas out, etc.

@@Gunner411 gotcha, it just looked like you were starting with an anodized part
@Gunner411

I understand the confusion. It’s a common misconception that all anodization needs to be removed. It just needs to be etched. Other coatings need to be fully stripped but an anodized part just needs to be hit with 30-35psi, doesn’t need the full stripping of the anodizing.

I flash dry between coats for a shorter time. If it gets too cured, the next coats will not adhere and will easily scratch off..Ovens very so don't take this as a criticism, you did a great job..Thanks for sharing..
@Gunner411

This is technically only 2 coats, one flash of 15 minutes before the stencils were applied, then final "coat" of the other colors to do the fades/blends, then full cure.

I also have a shel labs oven, which is the one recommended by Cerakote and used by all the top applicators out there. Being a certified applicator I went all out on my equipment when I got my shop set up last year.

@@Gunner411 I go for about 11 to 12 minutes with my oven so the surface is a little tacky yet won't leave any marks when touched. I don't have your top end equipment and it took me awhile to dial in my timing with my oven..Looking forward to more of your content..

Yeah. If I’m doing multiple coats like for a flag I only do 8-10 minutes in between normally
