Man, Green Day were on absolute fire back then. I still say Longview has one of the greatest bass lines ever... might be the perfect pop punk song in general.

One of the hardest I've ever laughed in my life was my older cousin, whose favorite album of all time is Dookie, telling me she introduced her kids to Green Day and the younger son's favorite song was Longview. He was around 8-9 at the time. It took a while for the two of us to stop laughing before we were able to explain to my mom that it's a song about laying around, smoking marijuana, and masturbating: at which point three of us were laughing. Then her husband walked up, asked what was funny, and we explained. All four of us were cracking up.

@@Alisha1686 born in 91. Been a fan since I was 12. Yeah he’s in Rolling Stone 100 Greatest Drummers but he almost never gets brought up in the conversation from my experience. Anytime these pop punk or just punk rock drummers are spoken about, his name hardly ever comes up. It’s always Travis Barker if anything (who I do believe is the better drummer of the two). A fun anecdote for you. I saw the band Machine Head back in 2011-2012 and I got to meet their bass player Adam Deuce (when he was in he was in the band) and we started speaking about them being from the Bay Area. He ended up telling me and my Buddy how they recorded a couple of their albums in Green Day’s studio because both bands were friends coming up at the same time in Oakland and San Fran. So Adam was talking about how Tre would write al of his goofy songs like “All By Myself” and I mentioned to him that I thought Tre was an incredible drummer who was underrated. Adam replied to me and said “massively underrated but his paychecks disagree” lol. So from my experience it appears he his not given the credit as often as he should be getting it but you disagree. We have had different experiences. By the way, I’ve seen Green Day 5 times in concert. 3 times in Chicago, once in Cincinnati and once in Cleveland. One of the best live shows ever. I will always defend these guys as one of the greatest bands ever.

@@RZHammer-ic7no while I'd agree that Travis is now better. I'd disagree as far as back then. Travis developed a unique style over time because he plays with poor technique. Despite this, he has done some amazing work over the years and I'll always be a fan. But they are both amazing drummers, I feel like Tre is quieter and doesn't care for the extra attention and people sometimes forget about him because I too don't hear his name thrown around enough in talks of drummers.

The drummer being in the wheelchair because they are supposed to be in an insane asylum. But Tre Cool (the drummer) is a ridiculously good drummer. You should check out. Bang Bang, Revolution Radio, Jesus of Suburbia, and Wake Me Up When September Ends. All great songs by them.
