Totaly my experience too. Just today I played SOS to a friend and she wouldn t even listen to the end of it because it is a sad song. 🤷♀️ The I played her When I ve got you. And she said this was a little bit better but would not listen to the end of it either.

Dimash just sang an amazing duet with Chante Moore, Lose Control. It’s on Hunan China tv and is the 2024 edition of I Am Singer which Dimash originally found his international fame in 2017 with S O S. Dimash is just a guest this year. Incidentally, Adam Lambert also was on the show this year.

Thank you very much, dear Joel, for loving Dimash and for wanting to introduce your friends to Dimash's brilliant work. Once upon a time, seven years ago, I also tried to introduce the genius of Dimash to my friends, but I received a lot of negative feedback from friends about Dimash, it was so painful for me to hear from my loved ones that they do not like Dimash. Now I never talk to my friends about Dimash, even if they talk about him themselves, because his fame is growing, but my friends seem insincere to me when they start praising Dimash now, and seven years ago they scolded him and did not want to recognize his talent. It seems to me that you have the same situation now - Your friends do not want to admit that Dimash is unique, that he is a genius, they recognize only generally recognized idols, and Dimash is now breaking through the wall of old art and many people do not understand him now, because big is seen from a distance.

I think one of the reasons that some people don't take to SOS is because they have no frame of reference for what it is. In the future, when introducing the song to people, it would be helpful to give them some background on the song. The fact that it is a song that is part of a French rock opera from the 70's allows people to get rid of their expectations and musical prejudices. It is not a punk song, or a rock song, or a pop song, or a classical song, it is a musical theatre song. Seen though that lens, it might appeal to more people.

Not many people who claim to love music, actually do. You can't love only a particular type and say you love music. That's just my opinion.

I beleive it is so (at least for me): people who don't know how much kowledge of/and voice training is in this voice/singing, just don't get it. And for his voice tone and efect you have to be spiritualy opened. And that part of IT/ 'being' is not inside everyone.

I agree with what's been said, some people are just so shut into their particular genre of music that nothing outside of that would appeal to them. Also you may have done better with the 2021 version of SOS which has a very different live music arrangement. Going into a reaction for someone that's already expressed disinterest in his music with a very similar song seems to be like a very bad idea considering Dimash covers almost every genre on the planet. Durdaraz, Kieli Mekin or even his newer When I've Got You would probably have been a much better idea. I think because you're so struck by his range you think others will be too and a lot of fans who don't just appreciate Dimash for his vocal range would also tell you how unimportant that actually is.

@@angeliareyes3111No, unfortunately I think you're absolutely correct. He's not interested in the comments people leave, even after all this time he barely knows anything about Dimash despite everything he's been told. He's only showing the songs that impressed him rather than focusing on people's personal taste. Unfortunately I've found that a lot of Americans focus on Dimash's accent which is a big reason why I wish he would focus on the UK as here we are so used to accents we don't really care about them and if he breaks the UK then breaking into the US becomes easier. Sometimes I think his channel is just an excuse to show off how many people he knows in the music business.
