Congratulations on being in the Offroad Games, and being teamed up with Rory. I have heard more than a few people talk about his Spotting skills. He is a very good Rock Crawler also. He looks a bit rough, he talks kind of laid back, and he is one big dude. One thing, he is very safe. He will look out for you. Do what he tells you, when he tells you, and how he tells you, and he can guide you through some obstacles that you would never think that you could do. I think that you all will have a blast. Rory and his crew are a hoot.

Nice job on the equipment! Last fall I disassembled my rusty 12 ton machine press, built new legs out of angle iron for it, prepped it, then painted it Alison-Chalmers orange. I started with Rust-Oleum Farm & Equipment spray cans but eventually got tired of having to do so many coats, so I switched to using an inexpensive HF spray gun with the same paint, but from a lidded can and also thinned down a little. It went incredibly quicker! Have fun in the Off Road Games.

My brother-in-law and my sister owned a 1938 John Deere B, hand flywheel start. It was called affectionately "Big Pink". Because the day we went for paint to stave off age and rust,, in the 'miss tints' shelf was a one gallon can of Rustoleum oil base,,, for one dollar. Just a buck. And as pink as a 14 years old pink lipstick. It was perfect. Probably still running, probably still pink.

Great job on cleaning up and repainting the equipment. One of the best practices on a farm is get the most life out of equipment as possible, and just cleaning up, removing rust, and repainting can go a long way to extending equipment life span, not to mention improving farm aesthetics!

Laura, Great to see how every thing is on your farm , it is close to the area that I was raised. My dad farmed three 80 acre fields that are right at the junction of old 281 and Hwy 34, the "new" Costco store is on half of one of them. It was a great place to grow up and farming really taught me what real work is as you so well show. People don't understand that a farmer bets most of what he has every spring when you put in the crops. Bad spring weather can ruin everything, which I don't have to tell you. I think that your place is near Marquette a place that I have had many good meals at the "I don't Care" restaurant there when I was turkey hunting on Bushes island. Love the area and your presentations on KZitem. Rex Schimmer

On the farm there are rainy day projects and thankfully the sunshine cooperated to get a serviceable paint job done today. Learning rock crawling skills from one of the best just might give you a new extra curricular activity to occupy your slack time on the farm! Fortunately your planters were all greased and in tip-top shape before you put them in storage last season.

It would be interesting to see how that farm equipment would look after sandblasting the old paint off. But anyways the new paint makes the tools look great. Great progress on all the new/used equipment. Scraping and brushing is good before repainting... have you ever considered sandblasting to make a really good job of it? It'll get the rust off down to bare metal, then you primer and paint and it will last for decades. I know it's an extra step, but... BTW, the deep red is just fine! 😁

A painting tip for farm equipmennt, especially after Gage ruined a pair of gloves. I'm in the middle of tobacco raising country. Scafflod wagons are used extensively. Sponges are excellent for painting the tubing that scafold wagons are built from. they are way cheaper than brushes. Cutting them into 3 or 4 pieces makes them even cheaper. When you are done with the painting project throw them away.
