Greensleeves, arranged by Miles Locke. Requires low A (4.3 octave) marimba.

Originally an old English folk song, Greensleeves has been around since the late 16th century. In the 1800s the melody was given a new text pertaining to the Biblical account of the birth of Jesus. Since then, the song has been associated as a Christmas song.
This arrangement is obviously not set to any text, but is simply a representation of the tune in a lyrical setting. The melody is always present and is accompanied by a graceful moving line. Because of the flexible melody, the tune moves in and out of modes creating a pleasant variation of harmony.
