Gregorio: "I hold 1m5s per 100m." "That's insanely good for an 800m!" Gregorio: "No, that's my 10k pace." Is this guy even human

A 1'05" pace would be mediocre at best for a man and very good but not insanely good for a woman...

@@djo-dji6018 You obviously A) haven't swum an 800 or B) are only thinking about pro swimming. In general that is an insanely fast time.

'technical' arm recovery looks pretty, but gregorio shows us that propulsion is the only thing that matters. Phenomenal swim!

Yep. I swim just like him (way less propulsion though lol)

Exactly. Where’s all this gumbaya total bullshittery submersion technique scam method 😂

There are two reasons why most swimmers benefit from a “technical arm recovery” 1. When you get tired a round arm technique means it is very hard to control the entry point for an optimal catch. 2. Technical recovery puts much less strain on the shoulder joint nd tendons which avoids injury. Paltrineri has suffered with terrible injuries over his career. His technique works for him but I wouldn’t recommend it is copied.

@@davidtydeman1434I agree that you shouldn't copy his style of swimming (I think you never should!). The injury point is valid. The real take away for me is that you have to focus on propulsion when coaching swimmers, that's where the speed is generated. It's backwards to assume that a good entry will result in a good catch, a lot of people make this mistake. It sure does help, but if the swimmer has a bad catch, even the best hand entry won't help him to swim faster!

What is the reason for their wetsuits to be sleeveless ? (compared to e.g. olympic triathlon where most wetsuits do have sleeves). Is that because of rules of the swimming federation? Or is it a preference of athletes, e.g. for arm rotation efficiency?
@TheTrailRabbit

These are not wetsuits but full leg race swim skin suits. They provide a streamlined surface for the body without the buoyancy and warmth of a wetsuit.
