Gregory Alan Isakov performs his song "The Universe" for a Fuel/Friends Music Blog Chapel Session in Colorado Springs, CO. Audio by Ian and Conor Bourgal of Blank-Tape Records.
Unbelievable. The only singer I listen to. All day. I play his version of Trapeze Swinger at least five times a day.

On repeat lately. This is one of those songs you play in your car, with your windows down, while you glide your hand over the wind, think about life and just breathe.

This is the first time I see Gregory singing. I'd already heard to his songs and I thought he was an old man. Definitely an old soul lives inside him. His songs are really really beautiful, peaceful and so old-fashioned. I love it! my ears love it.

he Universe, she's wounded She's got bruises on her feet I sat down like I always did, And tried to calm her down I sent her my warmth and my silence And all she sends me back is rain... rain The Universe, she's wounded But she's still got infinity ahead of her She's still got you and me And everybody says that she's beautiful The Universe, she's dancing now They got her lit up, lit up on the moon They got stars doing cartwheels, all the nebulas on the tune And the Universe, she's whispering so softly I can hear all The croaking insects, all the taxicabs, all the bum's spent change All the boys playing ball in the alleyways They're just folds in her dress The Universe, she's wounded But she's still got infinity ahead of her She's still got you and me And everybody says that she's beautiful And everybody says...

Thank you so much for sharing my favorite Isakov song. It was truly amazing last night listening to him at Carolina Theater in Durham, NC last night. He went completely dark on the stage during the song and the focus was on his words at that point and not on him. It was absolutely wonderful.

This is so beautiful. His voice is.....well..... indescribable. I wish everything I heard sounded like this. If only we could speak to each the way songs speak to us. We wouldn't really need to talk at all. Just feel.

This is my most watched video on KZitem. My favorite memory of Gregory is seeing him in Iowa, the stage goes dark as he asked the crowd what song to play - my voice cracks as I loudly say "the universe"
