I remember playing Project Ozone 3 in Kappa mode and thinking what we did with machines was cool... the amount of machines, and holy, the sub AE2 networks and cables is so satisfying in your base and out-surpasses what I've done tenfold. I've loved the idea of having a mega factory of multiblocks, chemicals, pipes, and machines in modded Minecraft and what you've done looks like a dream come true. @@AnAbsolutelyRandomGuybig benefit of AE2 is on-demand crafting, which in GTNH can be parallelized easily. I have played a different pack with AE after being temporarily filtered by xenoxene, and I began appreciating amount of improvements to AE GTNH has. What is easier in Factorio is machine spam. As you have bots that will build the factory for you, while in GTNH you only have yourself, multiblock projector and maybe ring of Loki. But to me one of attraction of GTNH is the exact opposite of easily printing machines: exponential scaling in similar space.

I've noticed that it's been becoming more popular lately tho, with packs like Star Technology/Monifactory and some new GTNH series popping up over the last year. I also think that most packs don't really need ae2 systems to be this extensive, or they have Refined Storage as an easier-to-understand and serviceable alternative.

We need a ultra hard survival game 3D with focus towards the technological age progression - from stone age with naked player to the galactic age where player is the type 3 civilization godlike creature that can bend reality and even create new universes. Endgoal would be a creating better Universe and finally ascending into creative mode.

The only previous modpacks I had finished before were Nomifactory/ATM 7 which are far from grindy, but one thing that did help was having people I could ask about progression points to avoid decision paralysis. Another thing is that I tended to focus on short-term goals which is more manageable than looking far into the future, as achieving a bunch of relatively minor tasks does add up in the long run. Take your time and don't expect anything in your base to be permanent for a while. There are many things you'll have to get used to like the GT energy system, hunger/mobs being awful earlygame, and microcrafting, but once you get past HV you'll probably get the hang of it. Consistently keeping on top of basic materials and power is important, or else you'll be spending hours waiting on things that you wouldn't otherwise (like EBF ingots, plastics, crafting parts, etc). Additionally, discord.gg/gtnh is a good resource if you'd like more help on what to do next, as there's tons of helpful ppl/useful information there.

This is incredible, waw, everything about this was great, GG. A few questions if you do not mind when you have time :D 1) Can you elaborate a bit on the workflow you used during the pack mainly? Did you you design systems to be balanced using spreadsheets, by drawing diagrams, by freestyling and eyeballing it as you go ingame or something completely different? Also, did you keep a To Do list or tree of sorts or just used the quest gui to guide you each time you logged on? I am super intrested to hear about that part of the playthrough as well if possible :D 2) I noticed you did not invest time in making builds more complex aesthetically than they need to be, a flat 2d center to outwards flat design mostly, was this done on purpose to cut on time (as I imagine that would have drastically increased the time to complete) or are there any other particular motivations of why it was done like this? Maybe a more basic and efficent design is just faster to work with and less distracting I guess? As an extra do you mind (if possible) sharing some links as well? 3) I have never looked into literal hardcore technic modpacks too much personally, would you say this is one of the hardest technical modpacks currently in existance? Are there worse ones? If so how recognized are them compared to GTNH? 4) Why solo and not with friends / others? Is there a particular reason? 5) Do you think GTNH will continue to grow and get updates in the future? Is it worth investing some time into as a fun milestone to reach and community to be in on your opinion? 6) When is the last time you touched grass? XD

1. I never really cared all that much about ratios or balancing machines; if one section of a line was bottlenecking, I'd just add more machines or increase power usage. For the most part, I either used a flowchart (most of them being made by C0bra or someone else on the nh discord) or winged it by seeing what kind of resources the system required, setting up ways to obtain them, and then linking everything together. For progression, the first thing I typically focused on is power, and then secondary stuff like production and upgrades unlocked in that tier. The questbook falls off hard after HV in describing your options imo 2. Yeah lawnbasing is pretty common in tech packs because it makes placing everything very easy and there aren't any builds to work around. I'm also inexperienced at building at large scales. About the links, I'm not sure what you mean but a comment I made has some which I can't pin due to a dumb youtube change. 3. I feel like GTNH isn't that "difficult", rather it's a time sink. Most extremely long chemical lines are just a ton of simple inputs/outputs or can be skipped entirely, like kevlar/bastline. Maybe something like Terrafirmagreg would be harder but I have no idea. This is definitely the longest one though. 4. I started this world right after a multiplayer run I joined died in IV (hosted by someone else), and I didn't do multiplayer since I had no idea how to host a server myself and I wasn't very integrated with the community. I wanted to learn about every aspect of the pack in this run just to experience everything, but somehow I ended up completing it. 5. NH is still constantly getting updated. Just scrolling through the upcoming features channel gives an idea of how active the devs are with adding/changing stuff. Whether or not you want to invest this much time into a game is up to you, as getting stargate is 100% not worth it solo lmao 6. Today

@dashinking

It was a custom jar for the adv wireless setup kit since it wasn't included in the nightly version that I'd used (which was the last stable one at the time). Instead of having to bind wireless connector pairs one by one, it allows you to queue a bunch of connectors then switch to bind mode where you can connect them all in order. This was extremely useful when wiring AALs bc of how many connectors I had to fly back and forth to link.

congrats on finishing the stargate but saying IV-UHV tiers are the best section of the game is just crazy to me. its all just braindead multiblock spam. i wouldnt mind if the multiblocks were actually interesting and they would amount to more than just wallsharing them. doing magic becomes mandatory which is by far the most tedious part of gtnh. once you understand how ae2 works infra is fucking trivial and there is no challenge there as you can have infinite channels with some subnetting. the systems and processes later on in the game are completly devoid of reality and just feel cheap and unimaginative. ive played this modpack more than i care to admit, i liked it for most part but its just a power creep simulator that is more grind than actual challenge

I was torn between preferring early game (stone-EV) and midgame (IV-UHV), but I ended up picking midgame because I like the convenience of ae2 + new stuff you accumulate each tier to work on (like power generation/circuit lines), compared to how much manual setup/resource scrounging there is earlygame. I do enjoy the "grind" that comes with it as well though, it's just that it becomes easy to breeze through after a few runs. One point I agree with is how little real logistics the pack has when much of what you do is entirely ae2 based, but imo that issue is due to the pack itself/Minecraft not really being suited towards that kind of gameplay style. There would probably have to be some sort of major design philosophy shift to make that work and I doubt that's ever happening. The new waterline seems to be one of the steps they're taking to re-introduce some form of challenge to later parts at least

This is absolutely INSANE. I don't think I have that many hours across all games. And the fact game kept you interested for at least 3000h is also insane

I can’t even process the amount of game knowledge this must require. My hardest modpack is E2E, but it’s nothing compared to GTNH. Well done!

In real time, it took a few days over a year and about 1.5-2k hours actual playtime. It's harder to say in game days but judging from my playtime, it was ~36 years
