Beautiful guitar! There's just something magical about a Gretsch. Been spellbound by them since seeing Neil Young and his White Falcon. Utterly iconic.

Nice description and review. I would only note. It has two volume knobs, one for each pick up to allow blending. It has One master volume as you noted. It has one tone knob on bottom. Thanks for the demo.

Super minor addition but the f holes are bound on the electromatics. Great review overall.

Bound? Sorry, not sure what you mean.

@@OnlineMusicSwap like when you have a bound neck, or a bound body - plastic binding. The f-holes on Electromatics have it. The streamliners don't.

The color of the guitar is quite nice. I ended up last year buying the Gretsch version with Midnight metallic blue and rowed mahogany back and Bigbys tremolo. The guitar is beautiful especially after I switched out stock control knobs with gold metal Gretsch ones. The guitar is exceptionally made with actual internal purfing (spelling not my strong suit). Can definitely recommend the Gretsch, I paid more than you did but still think I got a good deal.

I am thinking about replacing the control knobs with the Gretsch metal knobs as well. Completes the guitar.

First off, your playing has REALLY improved!! Sounding great sir! Second, I really love how down to earth you are. No fluff just honest, regular guy reviews. Thirdly, I own the 2622 (full sized body version basically of what you have I believe.) Only complaint I had were the pickups were WAY too muddy and dark for my tastes in tone. Swapped out for some cheap gold foil gfs humbuckers and it turned it into one of my favorites. The rest was spot on...super low action and no fret buzz, great attention to detail all around. Very impressed with it...and it's now a killer blues/rock machine.

Gretsch don't make a bad guitar these days AFAIC. Even their Streamliner series are just incredible in terms of fitout, sound, build quality and finish. Not so keen on the black plastic knobs, but I have a G2622-P90 Streamliner with cream retro knobs to match the cream P90 pickup surrounds which look far more tasteful than the black ones, which I agree are underwhelming in appearance. Nothing wrong with plastic knobs and switch tips. Fender and Gibson use plastic knobs even on their high end models. I have Electromatics too with their metal knobs and switch tip, and many choose to mod to that standard for appearance sake. Functionally, it makes next to no difference AFAIC. I actually bought a set of high end Gretsch model Japanese GOTOH knobs in chrome with the intention of fitting them to my Streamliner, but decided to stick with the retro Cream as they really look nice on the Claret Burst.

Very cool guitar, Joe. I dig it. In fact... I am a huge Gretsch Fan. I've had several Gretsch guitars, including Streamliners and Electromatics. I have 3 of them right now, including one full hollow body. My Electromatic Semi is probably my favorite guitar that I own. Top 2 or 3 anyway. Also had 2 solid body LP ish types. Like those too. Gretsch is just awesome. So cool. And I dig that one. Congrats!

The Gretsch seems like a common sense alternative to a D’Angelico Mini DC, or an Epiphone or Gibson 339. The Mini DC go for anywhere’s in the range of $700-$2000, and an Epiphone 339 will set you back about $550, and a Gibson about $3500.

It doesn't sound out of tune to me. And I've a good ear and I wince whenever I hear anything slightly out of tune. So thanks for your review and keep up the good work.
