Thank you so much belshep!!! :)))) Just this morning I was listening to Richter's Hammerklavier and thinking how much I'd like to listen to Maestro Sokolov again playing it life! I wonder if we will have the chance to hear another Hammerklavier like this in our lifetime..

2:59 Sokolow manages the first fugue of the fourth movement of Beethoven's "Hammerklaviersonate" only in very slow ridiculous 6' 16 minutes instead of the prescripted 144 Mälzel a crotchet (4' 52,5 minutes). For achieving the real Beethoven experience you should listen to more gifted pianists who not only reach but even outdo the prescripted overwhelming speed: HJ Lim (4'46 minutes), Laetitia Hahn (4' 34 minutes) and Stephan Beus (4' 33 minutes). The world famous conductor Roger Norrington confirmed to HJ Lim that Beethoven's metronome was in order and Beethoven might have been deaf but not goof! Like Norrington also Elliot Gardiner kept the original speed in conducting Beethoven's nine symphonies.
