Pot limit Omaha Hi/Lo has taken over Lubbock, Texas....I have never seen anything like it. After living and playing in Florida for years, I moved to Lubbock and every home game is a Hi/Lo game, even the wives and kids play it. As someone who hasn't ever dabbled in it much this video was very helpful.

I didn't say not to push the action if you flopped the nut high. If you have the stone-cold nuts to the high, you are right that there is nothing to lose by building the pot. However, if you do not have the stone-cold nuts, or there are a lot of other ways to make the same hand you hold, building a pot when you only win at best half the pot is a losing proposition. Does that clarify things?

One thing he didn't really touch on that's even worse than being quartered, is being freerolled. Say you play a bunch of the middle cards he tells you not to play, and you flop the nut straight. Of course there's a low on board, and you can't make a low. If your opponent has a made low and a flush draw (or set), you are in a terrible position. You can't make money on the hand, and you stand a chance to lose your whole stack if he beats you for the high.

Yes, higher redraws are also6the true moneymaker in these situations

I don't understand why you should not push the action when you have the nut high? There is nothing to lose... :S

You hold 7766 rainbow. Flop = 985, two suits. This is a FOLD in virtually any spot. You have damn near no shot at the nuts and if you do manage it, the board will have a low, which will to to an opponent in almost all cases.

People definitely still suck at PLO. It can be hard to find games sometimes, but for non-US players that may start to change with the return of Full Tilt Poker, and hopefully US players will continue to see movement toward a fully legalized way to play in the near future.

Reducing the frequency of a qualifying low hand would definitely change the game, but I'm not convinced that it would be for the better. If the low only went up to 6, then there would literally be exactly two lows possible ever - a situation which would make winning the low side of the pot almost meaningless as it would result in splitting that half of the pot very frequently. With the low being at 8-or-better, a low hand happens just often enough to make it worth adjusting your starting hands

65432, 6543A, 6542A, 6532A, 6432A, and 5432A: That's six different low hands that are possible if the low had to be 6 or better. With three different low cards of 6 or under on the board, three different lows would be possible. With four different low cards of 6 or under on the board, all six of those low hands are possible.

Quartering the pot doesn't necessary mean you loss money. If there are 4 or more players in the pot, and you get quartered, you're at least getting money back.
@HoopaHideout

That's very true. Except that you stand the chance of getting even less than a quarter of the pot if your end of it gets split more than two ways.
@J916O

@@HoopaHideout Of course it gets less. Just trying to make a point, if it's 4 players at the end and 2 chop the low, it's pretty much even money. Anything different than this, will have different results.

Hi is there anywhere I can get hi/lo calling charts
@HoopaHideout
4 жыл бұрын
I do not specifically know of one. The general rule is to require a stronger hand to call with than you'd need to be with if you were in your opponent's position at the table. There is some flexibility with hands that can hit extremely big, and with multi way pots and with closing the action (i.e. if no one else can raise after your call).

HELP! Can anyone explain how if I had AJ88 and my opponent had KJ43 that he would win BOTH the high (ok) AND the low ??? FLOP: 7 5 10 J 6 Should I not win the low because I had the lowest (A) card? Thanks!

In omaha of any kind you need to use exacly 2 of your cards in hand. For example if you have AJKQ and the board is AA334- you dont have full house. You've got AA33 with a K kicker.

If you have AKQJ on an AA334 board. You have AAAK4 not AA33K

Your low is 87651 your opponent has 76543 for a low. Think of the A as a 1 in terms of low, it makes it easier; which number is lower 87,651 or 76,543? As far as high, he has a 34567 straight, you have a pair of Jacks with an ace kicker.

no becuz building the hi pot can potentially take ur opponent off the 2nd nut lo or 3rd nut lo so u want to jam the nuts as much as possible unless it becomes the non nuts on the river

It's because you can usually win the high, with 6 high if you and your opponents have wheels /wheel draws

I meant the straight 2 3 4 5 6, would take half the pot as oppose to A 2 3 4 5 where more often anh not your sharing nut low and wheel
