Have you used or heard of PPG's DX 1791 wash primer? It is a catalyzed, transparent, (very slightly yellow) one coat primer, that promotes adhesion between sanded bare metal and Urathane paints.

@@BogDustForBreakfast Never had any issues. We use it on all bare metal before painting, and wondered what difference it might make on a candy coated panel like the one in this video. Beautiful job, btw.

@@Raceb8420 how long does it last compared to standard primer?
@Raceb8420

@@bronzehawk3646 The PPG system we use at my shop requires it to be used on all bare metal before applying epoxy primers, primers, or topcoats. Especially galvanized metals. We warranty our paint work for the lifetime of vehicle ownership, backed by PPG. Never have any issues personally, however a painter's apprentice accidently sprayed the wrong primer over the wash and there was a problem with adhesion. Sanded off the incorrect primer and redo with the correct primer resolved the issue. If the primer you use doesn't require it, go without. A lot of primers have metal adhesion properties mixed in already, and using the two together can potentially fail. I hope that answers your question.

if someone had a paint job like this "with a few dings" he could PDR the dents out and keep the custom effect. there are some very telented PDR Techs out there!
