Thank you. I have to say I agree with you on this one. Nobody plays Vicente's music better than Maestro himself. In Vicente we have a perfect marriage of composer and performer. Playing in his style comes naturally for him, like speaking. Having said that, this piece speaks to me, and that's all that matters. I play it because I love it, that's all. I would never think of competing with any of the great masters whose music I cover. Again, I play these pieces because I love them.

I live in Spain, was raised with flamenco music and have growned up with Paco de Lucia, Sabicas and all the great artists. Grisha is an excellent musician with an incredible technique. He doesent deserve a non like. Thats an insult to art. Of course his only flaw is not having his own music just interpreting others. He Should develop his own style but even if he doesent he has a great merit for his perfection. As a guitar player myself i applaude him.

In one of his interviews he said that he finds it is so unfair to keep on stage only those who play their own music in flamenco. And he also said that he believes his mission is to show people the pieces that were written by those who passed away for example. Or any other reason. Just like classical music it is very important for flamenco culture to have not only composers but also... Those who replay, can't remember the correct word for it. And Javier Conde or Grisha do truly great job. Not all the musicians who play phenomenal can actually compose, right? :) And not always those who compose well, are of such a technical proficiency like Grisha. He is absolutely unique. And he's got his solid place in flamenco for sure.

Absolutely brilliant playing. So what are we saying that in order to state your identity you have to necessarily write you own material? Unlike classical instrumentalists who can devote their entire lifes to interpreting other people's work and that's fine, but not in Flamenco? That's unfair. I see this guy coming under fire from Spanish guitarrists arguing he hasnt got enough "flamencura" as well as from those demanding composition of him as a must. Let me tell you, he's got enough love and guts to play a genre which didnt originate in his country, and to do it this well. I for one, feel the deepest respect and admiration. He is just finishing up his PhD. Aside from building an incredible foundation of technique not many can challenge, developing his ear (that's how he's learned everything), and choosing 6 hours of repertoire by the greatest flamenco masters 90% of you can't play (that's gotten him lots of work globally), he will soon cast his own shadow. Grisha's name will eventually go down in the flamenco history books, just wait on the sidelines and see. So keep hitting the dislikes, you're not practicing anyway...

When I see Grisha interpreting the great flamenco guitarists, the only difference I see is that Paco, Sabicas, Vicente and others are the composers and Grisha in the interpretation. Technically Grisha is at the same level as Paco. Those who say I want to see him accompany flamenco songs and dances, I think that perhaps it does not interest him, otherwise such a musician who interprets to perfection masterpieces very complex to play, will accompany the songs and dances with a disconcerting ease. Without a doubt, what makes Gricha an excellent guitarist is that he does not only play but he lives what he plays.

I read many criticism and many good comments too. In the bottom line it is only matter how it sounds to the ear.Try not to look at the video or knowing the name of the guitarist if you like what you hear than it is good. Yes I agree that he needs to write his own pieces but that is not easy. The cons of playing someone else`s music is stopping you from developing your own style of playing the guitar and you get use to it and it becomes part of your playing nature. Grisha is still a very young man and has a lifetime to develop his own style and I am sure he will find the way to play his own music and style. All the best Grisha.

@ecorcor

@paquillo6732

No sé si me he explicado.

+ecorcor ¿En qué me equivoco?

If he composes then that might be a bonus. Meanwhile why not be content that he is a superb musician. By the way, I see you have written a comment here. Who are you though? Have you written anything original? I look forward to reading something original from you ;)
