A great reason why youtube should abandon "likes" and "dislikes" as the red buttons of fatuously childish minds who cannot be bothered to concentrate for more than a few seconds and whose thumbs up/thumbs down binary choices are provided by google/youtube as a vacuous measure of stupid minds. Whatever one fancies this is utterly stunning musicianship.

spanish flamenco players are very protective of their art, and i am guessing they don't like it when some foreign player takes flamenco pieces and plays them in his own style, adds his own ego, playes out-of-compas, rushes it, but gets all the credit for the art. dont forget, when paco played his rio ancho/ mediterranean sundance abroad, it was credited as a 'flamenco'song by the foregin press, but alot of the spanish flamenco purists were very pissed with Paco!

Exactly. Technique is just a small part of Flamenco. The most important component can never be learned, but born with; call it duende, aire or, in the U.S., soul. You can only experience this by closing your eyes and listening to the guitarist, not just watching his fingers. This is what most people don't get and what many Spanish Payo and Gypsy players are exposed to since birth, although being Spanish is not necessarily a requirement.
@MrPsang

@guitarflo123 Ah ok I see what you mean; it's actually a hybrid classical / flamenco guitar. Both flamenco guitars and classical guitars have wide necks and nylon strings, but flamenco guitars are made of different wood (much lighter, and create much brighter sound) than classical guitars (which allow you to create a "sweeter" tone). Also flamenco guitars have protections that allow the player to use "golpe" (which refers to any of the various taps on the guitar that turn it into a drum).

Te doy un "I like", ¡Maestro!

Im going to try to explain the dislikes. Flamenco guitar sound isnt, traditionally, so pure, clean and sweet as Grisha's. Flamenco guitar sound is deliberately "dirty", its normally played at the right end of the guitar. The people with low iq that is used to listen to flamenco, mostly andalusians, are surprised of this new "strange" clean sound, and they push dislike, because its different of what they are used to, what they always thought it was the WAY to play. Psychollogically I would explain it like this: when one person thought all his life the one thing was correct, specially if they love that thing or they consider it part of their identity, they dont accept by any means that someone tell them they have been wrong all their lifes, even if the are given irrefutable reasons, its like saying: you have been doing a stupid thing all this time; its unacceptable for their ego, Freud would say its the death of the ego, of the identity, of the self image. Also, they can easily think that if they have been wrong all this time in that issue that they felt was so important, in how many innumerable issues they can also be wrong? My grandma refused to use that strange invention called "a mop", she always cleaned the floors one way, what were they trying to tell her now, that she was wasting energy and time all her life? Unacceptable. Finally she took the mop and gave thanks to God for it. And speaking of God, this also is the reason of why belivers arent movable of their irrational positions, it would be like accepting the death of their ego, it doesnt matter how rational or logical the arguments given to them are. Sorry about english.

You got the best response ,..they need Jesus to forget their stupidity to not apprecaite an art like Flamenco..Flamenco has a sound and an feeling, it's a way of life..it's full of emotion, pain, sadness, joy, mockery like bulerias..Sadness as in the Tarantos form the miners, some melancoly and mourning like in the Tientos..You see, everything in flamenco has a way of transmiting those feeling and If you dont know the history and origin of how Flamenco started then you dont know how to transmit that in your performance, perhaps because it is not in your blood...You see when Paco or Tomatito perform they some out sweating because Playing Flamenco is your fucking whole life..You are Flamenco when you do that...

@ Geez, there's always a comment like yours under these videos. It is possible to criticize without being able to reproduce what it is you are criticizing, just like it's possible to coach a football team without being able to phisycally run for 90 minutes on the field. Critics can be competent or incompetent, but their personal abilities have little if nothing to do with it.
