I enjoy (virtually or live) grocery shopping when I travel, it's so fun to see what people enjoy in places other than my home. You certainly have an abundance of lovely cheeses and fruits(that selles sur cher! those apricots!) in your neighborhood! I think a mainstay of my cooking "philosophy" is home cooking and variety!

I'm not a big believer in either organic or local as food consumption rules. That said, what I buy largely parallels your shopping. Rolled oats as a cereal for breakfast occasionally. Frozen veg/ fruit for convenience and in winter. Nuts or popcorn or oatcakes as a snack instead of chips. Ready made meals in the UK are quite good quality and they're helpful to just pull out of the freezer. I'm picky about meat, will generally avoid the mass farmed chicken. Blue cheese is great for dessert and I've just ordered a kilogram of dates to go with it.

I really miss the delicious baguettes and other baked goods in France. Here in America, it's very hard to find high quality bread or pastries. I finally learned how to make my own but I'm still not patient enough to devote the time to it. It was so nice to be able to get a fresh baguette every morning at the boulangerie or open air market. I can resist all the other ultra-processed foods but not that!

As an American who lives somewhere it is legit too hot to bake year round (38°C everyday for the next week), the lack of real bread available near me, when not baked by me, is the worst. Have to drive 15-20 minutes out of the way to get a single loaf for $12. It's unreasonably expensive and difficult to obtain. Also, totally wish we got the 100% lindt bar with orange flavor. My family thinks I'm crazy for eating squares of that bar plain, but it is healthy in small doses and really satisfies the chocolate cravings!

I hate meats wrapped in plastic. I miss the small, high-street butcher shops which were everywhere and wrapped the meat in brown paper and very friendly service, here in NZ.

@@easyfrenchdiet Hi. It turned out really well. I guess since veal is not commonly used here in the US, what I got from the butcher was the frozen shoulder cut. It was probably water logged cos there was a lot of water when I tried to brown it. I will have to find a better butcher. But your recipe was soooo good and so simple to follow! Thank you so much🥰

Hello. Thanks for keeping me informed. if the meat loses water maybe you can drain it. I've noticed that it happens sometimes for me with chicken. I don't know why. In this case I cook it a bit and then I drain the water and then I start cooking again. Have a nice day 😊

Hello. The day I buy the bread I slice it and put it directly into the freezer. And when I want to have some for breakfast I just pull out one or two slices the night before and it's perfect the next morning. Or of course You can toast it if you forgot to pull it out the night before. Thanks for watching ☺️

Allow me to disagree... There are no preservatives, nor added sugar in the Fleury-Michon and Marie pre-made meals you show. They're a bit pricey, but you pay for the time you gain.

It’s so sad to see all our diets in Europe being so badly affected by the American fast food chains. It’s so sad that the UK left the EU because I loved all the EU regulations. We can’t come back soon enough for me. I would be retired in France or Italy now if it wasn’t for Brexshit .

The food in the USA is a disgrace. Quality and flavor is lacking. I haven’t bought a decent strawberry in decades no matter how much I spend. The high end stores are only high in price. Lack of pride, craftsmanship and integrity of our producers!

Apparently, the French eat twice the amount of meat of any country. A lot of red meat too. It’s not good for you. .
