AVOIDING MECHANIZATION
When graffiti becomes the unconditional companion and at the same time a life goal to improve yourself - Today’s episode of Ink Heads focuses on an incredible writer we came across during our continuous research and scouting: @esnoreesnoreesnoreesnoreesnore. Just brace yourself as this chapter is more than being dragged by the moment of an action, it’s something where nothing is left to chance but a thoughtful series of experiments on walls. A mix of persistent research, dry runs and also mistakes is the leading process that takes today’s writer to have an admirable awareness of the sign through space, blending unexpected geometries that become like alien vernacular where even the letters’ kerning is pinpoint accurate. Reconsider all you have learned ‘till now as this collaboration takes you across Santiago de Chile’s streets, letting you deep into the need of ESNORE to look for a new and never seen before language!
How do we start to talk about him then? Probably with a timeline beginning by picturing the context that got him kicking off with this long passionated journey. ESNORE is now a 30 years old guy born and bred in Bajos De Mena, an urban area located at the southernmost end of Greater Santiago in Chile, where he never wasted time for experimenting on the streets, in first place with a resilient attitude. “My first approach in graffiti was around 4 years old, simply out of curiosity and just for fun, while over time I began practicing it as a way to evade reality due to the constant family problems that I faced since I was a child.” And how it easily happens to most of us, he found himself spending more time on the street than at home, so that graffiti became a solid synonym of comfort zone.
By daily practicing he made his way through the field, meeting older writers with much more knowledge at that time, who guided his vision into multiple perspectives, until it all became a real obsession. So, managing to build a recognizable imaginary, without losing the essence and highlighting what has characterized his evolution, we arrive to Esnore’s style as we see it today. “In this project I wanted to avoid leaving all the responsibility to my memory and mechanization. That is the reason for the paper in my hands: a guide to understand what I do from a more illustrative perspective. Therefore, the three dots at the end of each tag mean that this will continue…”
We will surely return to explore ESNORE’s imagination as there is a lot to say, for now we leave you with a new #groginkheads episode. Like, share & support the scene!
