This is a playthrough using Bristol-D (Bristol Devil) in the Arcade version of Groove On Fight. Read on below for more information...
Bristol-D is the final boss on the 8th and final stage in single player mode. He appears with the player team's Partner on his side after casting a mind-spell on them.
He is an unplayable character in this version of the game.
===== ABOUT BRISTOL-D =====
He is the true identity of Bristol Weller, and he is a dark summoner from the future. In his natural time era of the year 2115, he had great influential and financial power worldwide, gained by committing crimes. This was eventually discovered by the authorities and he was sent to jail as a result, but he managed to escape.
By using the technology available in his era and also his special abilities as a devil summoner, Bristol-D then traveled into the past with the goal of changing events to his convenience, to cause and effect so that he can conquer and take over the world.
===== GAMEPLAY =====
This guy is one of those "supernatural-overlord" characters where all his moves involve summoning all kinds of demons and creatures to strike his opponents... he has lots of raw power in this game, but it's possible to give him a difficult time by chasing him down with characters that are small and fast. His "giant fly" super inflicts very high damage if it hits unblocked.
===== ADDITIONAL INFORMATION =====
---- He has multiple different colour palettes despite being a non-selectable character.
---- As he is an unplayable character in this version of the game, it means that he is slightly incomplete in that his Dual Attack and Pursue Attack causes him to disappear and freeze (with his head icon remaining). However this doesn't crash the game, and he can get out of it via several different methods.
---- When Bristol-D is the active character, tagging his partner in will not make the "clap" sound effect.
---- In the Saturn version of the game, he has proper "tag-in" and "tag-out" animation frames as the active character. He doesn't have these in the Arcade version.
---- In the Saturn version of the game he has a new triple strike special move. He doesn't have this in the Arcade version.
---- In the Saturn port of the game, when Bristol-D performs his throw on female opponents, the demon who appears is always the female Succubus. In the Arcade version, an Incubus appears when his throw is performed on female opponents.
---- Many of the demons/creatures he summons are cameos of various demons from the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, which is also published by Atlus.
---- Shin Megami Tensei's Persona spin-off series has referenced Power Instinct on a couple of occasions.
---- GOF is the 4th game in the Power Instinct series and the storyline of it is set 20 years into the future after the other Power Instinct games, which would chronologically make it the latest or most recent.
---- The game can also be known as Goketsuji Ichizoku 3 or Power Instinct 3.
===== ABOUT GROOVE ON FIGHT =====
This is a 2-on-2 fighter where players have the ability to tag in and out at any time during a match, much like Capcom's first three Marvel versus games.
The game has a far less "comical" vibe than the other games in this franchise, resulting in a much darker and serious tone. Otane/Oume are the only character(s) to make a return from the prequel games.
Graphically-wise, the style of GOF is very different to the other games in the Power Instinct franchise, offering smaller character sprites but having more fluid animation on them. As the game has to store up to four different characters for a match, it was very impressive for it's time.
Compared to the Saturn port of the game, the Arcade version is probably the one to go for due to all the characters having their original full animation frames (the Saturn version had LOADS of animation frames cut) and no loading times. However, the Saturn version does have it's own advantages such as having all three bosses being playable along with them having ending sequences, as well as the usual console option features.
