Unfortunately this is going to happen in current times. I went to Grossmont in 1979-80 when times were different. There was respect. As far as the heat, we were let out of school at noon on the hottest days of September as there wasn't A/C in classrooms back then. I will say that, sadly, because society is what it is yes, it is necessary to have a stricter dress code for everyone's safety. One day you will look back and understand.

There ya go. Uh, a lil education would go a long way. Maybe some civics, etiquette . You're a kid in high school. A kid. Your job is go to school so you can graduate and get a job. School ain't a club, the streets, your mom's, etc. We have laws and rules for reasons. Nobody gives a damn about anybody's body. They need to make you wear uniforms like other schools.

@Barb Ginther “A kid in high school. A kid” doesn’t actually have a job “to go to high school and graduate”. If they have a job it’s completely outside the realm of the school’s purview. A job means they’re getting paid for services…and while I don’t think any sort of economic system should exist, if people are unknowingly training for future jobs then they should be getting paid for it.

Lol I really advise some of these 30 year olds in the comments to not talk about something they have no idea about. It gets 90 and above degrees on a daily basis and I go to high school in El Cajon. Sometimes I just wear a simple shirt n shorts and I still sweat. On top of that, literally no high school other than grossmont in the past year or two has protested about dress code. This is a problem. Grossmont is the outlier and the reason is because the dress code is outdated and unreliable. Nobody in this generation (especially women considering this dress code is strict on women) should be forced to wear shitty burdensome clothes that make you sweat and possibly overheat. Dumb dress code. Teenagers in this generation including me should be able to wear comfortable clothes and be fashionable at the same time. It isn’t “inappropriate” to show a little cleavage or show shoulders. That makes no sense. On top of that, having your hoodies’ hood up also isn’t inappropriate. This isn’t some danger sign that the kid in question is a future convict.

Millenial issues...I think they rather have official school uniforms instead huh? Fitted Polo tee, slacks/SKORTS/SHORTS,black/navy blue inside/under shirts, white or black socks, & black or white tennis shoes. No hightops, no skirts, no mini skirts, no baggy clothing, no skinny jeans, muscle shirts, long sleeves, etc. Give them something real to complain about. & this is towards ALL STUDENTS whatever they wish to "identify" as. not just picky, spoiled girls. You're there to LEARN not fight everything & EVERYONE! smdh kids now a days! I'm a Millenial with minimal to no stupid excuse for living a normal everyday life only 31 & already see dumb things arising everyday from mindless tiktok shenanigans, to protests of who knows what tomorrow!
