"Loose flaps of skin are disconcerting to the man on whom they flap." 😆 I would say so. The author even nailed the use of whom.

Hank Reinhardt's book is a must read. The concept here is what I like to refer to as the Fillet O' Flesh. Much like opening the abdominal cavity, it should tend to stop the fight as the opponent now has to hold themselves together until repairs can be made. Thanks for the video and hope you feel better soon.

Okay now try doing this on a moving hand. There is no chance you would be able to "create a flap" while a person is turning you into a colander. Try sparring with sharpies and try to attack a moving hand. Knife fights are nasty and they look nothing like you see on those self defence DVDs.

I used to always carry a box cutter. And I explained the filleting technique (to family when asked when not a normal knife) as a built in move never taught it just made sense to me. The point of fighting should be self defense.

When you do FMA you have an obligation to censure yourself when you post to the public. Yea you don’t do this. Maybe we will stick fight sometimes? Sound like fun?

Back in early 2000's I took some training from the former World Champion Knife artist named Erin Ballarta. He use to work for the Bush administration and special detachment for taking out terror cells. He told us about some encounters he has had and the psychological effect of exactly this technique, however it was to the interior portion of the arm, which is far more effective because of tendons. Once someone sees this flap of skin the fight is already over for them and they are already dead, they just don't know it. Erin is since retired, but was the absolute best knife fighter in the world back in the day. His training coupled with Guru Danny Inosanto was the best training I had ever had.

Knife engagement is serious beyond comprehension & the consequences are permanent. Most people have no damn idea the realities of it until it happens to them. Having intense training in a variety of Martial Arts/Combatives,,, ECT & being in some nasty,,, quick & violent encounters,,,w a variety of individuals from all walks of life,,,I found out,,, what's realistic & what's not. Violence can only be overcome by a stronger & greater violence & I'd trade a cut for a kill anyday. Train realistically w aggressive resistance & an uncooperative partner,,,& use your techniques. You'll be humbled real quick & get your eyes open. But that's my experienced opinion. One must learn to turn on that switch. You know that Murderer Mentality & be willing to 💯%fully committ till the end. Cheat like Hell & survive people. Stay safe !!!
