I wouldve played it more if it wasn't for everyone using the pistol instead of AR is slayer all the time, and if warzone didn't have that stupid bug where your reqs would not load into the game. Other than that I had fun in the multiplayer

Halo 5 was an excellent game by its last update, it just didn't bring a lot of what is expected with a Halo title I think when most community members criticize Halo 5 post-2016, they look at with the expectation of a Halo title It's like faulting and criticizing Titanfall for not being a good Portal game

I was never a particular good player and my kills in Halo online have always been few and far between, and while all of them felt like a triumph none of them felt as good as the one time I went all in on a ground pound and caved the kill leader's head. I really did feel like brick that flew pretty good.

I loved halo 5's movement. Your armor gave you the ability to take on multiple players or vehicles with the skill. That is a spartan in my opinion

Yeah, I have so much time on both 5 and infinite, and with the mobility and abilities in 5 I found myself evading the enemy and being able to take on multiple enemies with less difficulty than I do in infinite

I played Halo 5 consitanly for 5 years and loved it. It had amazing netcode, Im from Australia and never had a laggy game ever. I played pretty well. I loved the groundpound and dash. Made me feel like spartan more then ever IMO Halo 5 is unrated. The only part of Halo 5 that wasn't so good was the story. Everything else was great, Gameplay Co-op and so on. Oh I did hate the req system that was awful. Slotmachine rewards fucking disgusting

Ground Pounding vehicles and multikills = my favorite part of Halo 5. Man cannons, slide launches, good times. It could destroy some vehicles if you hit the back or top-rear, flip any warthog or ghost, and escape turret fire if executed swiftly from height. One ground pound with a gravity hammer could ruin a tank. And hitting an air vehicle, especially if I stuck to it long enough to steal it... That was sublime.

I wonder if ground pound will become it's own separate pickup in infinite for multiplayer. Like instead of it being tied to the grapple hook it's literally boosters that throw you to the ground.

Grapple Hook is a "pick up" attachment with limited use and the hook pound feature can only be done in Campaign AFTER you upgrade the Grapple Hook. Ground Pound in H5 was an advancement of Spartan Armor that allowed more diverse movement mechanics to more flexibly traverse the maps in Campaign AND Multiplayer

@@2mon249 Dude, it’s because of the fact the players had Ground Pound, Thrusters, etc. at all times is the reason Halo fans wanted them removed. They weren’t the same as equipment or traditional armor abilities. And there is no way in hell all the people who wanted a more traditional Halo title were a “minority”. Read the room.

Ground pounding in H5 was great and fun (when it is used correctly) I want 343 to put the H5 core mechanics into Infinite MP at least for a separated game mode because imo H5 still has the best multiplayer to date, Infinite is good but It lacks something that 5 didn't

As someone who never played 5. I thought thruster abilities were different but made the game more fast paced like the quake. Wish they kept them in but balanced them more. I can see how annoying it would be that they didn't have cooldowns. However since everyone has the same base abilities I feel as though this was more of a refusal to adapt more then it being unbalanced

One way H5's Thruster-based abilities could've been balanced more is by making all of them use the same cooldown in multiplayer. This means you have to choose when you use a given ability, as it'll be a quick second before you get it back and can't use the other Thruster abilities; you can't just boost jump and then immediately Ground Pound right after. I also had the thought of Ground Pound requiring the full charging duration to be completed before you can pull it off, and Spartan Charge would have a similarly required charging duration that's much easier to see coming.

I mean, gen 3 appears to be a super cheap to produce mjolnir line, with all the modules for specific upgrades and equipment rather than the suits themselves having these built in. No more specialist armor like in 4/5, instead it’s just copies of the same Mark 7 set with the only specialization being shoulders, knee-guards, and helmet. That’s what I’m thinking.

well the armors in 5 and Infinite are different. Halo 5 armors are Gen 2 and Halo Infinite armors are Gen 3, the explanation I see is that not all spartans used the thrusters and maybe they were very expensive to produce (based on the fact that the Gen 3 armor are cheaper to produce) so they decided to make the thrusters an option rather than a requirement in every armor, but thrusters still exist and used as evidenced in how Chief acquires the thruster module from a dead spartan in a cutscene, they are just not mandatory to be in every armor.

@@dishsoap6895 I mean halo 5 had a 250 Million dollar budget. You can tell 343 has PTSD from how bad the fans treated that game when their studio obviously put a lot of effort into it. Now we’re left with a muddy, unpolished empty halo game that’s free to play and aren’t doing much to fix it

The literal only thing that hurt H5s multiplayer was the Spartan charge. It was a crutch used way too much. Remove it and H5 is the superior multiplayer experience in my opinion.

Not in warzone, it was actually a liability and often you lost more than you gained, same for ground pound unfortunately. They were PvE skills, but arena is a different matter with the smaller maps and smaller motion tracker made those skills useful.

Or lowered the dmg, or have diminishing dmg based on target you are. There's tons of ways to balance this. Personally I like it's moxy. It fits the series well, and I like how it feels like your armor is legit and better, newer model. I've always liked halo. I just wish the pace was faster.

@@north7764 not the point. The point is, Spartan charge 1 shots and floating above doorways for up to 10 seconds to ground pound people, was irritating to play against and unsatisfying to get kills with. Theres nothing satisfying about cheesing someone. IMO it's bad game design for a FPS.

Because of the overly vocal complaining MINORITY that caused 343 to get rid of Ground Pound, Spartan Charge, Thrusters, and Auto Stabilize in Infinite players are still trying to recreate the movement mechanics. This is both cool and sad at the same time

The MAJORITY didn't like spartan charge, ground pound, and thrusters. That's why the population drop off was so extreme so early in in the Halo 5's life cycle. Its kinda like how Halo 4 heavily copied and implemented Call of Duty's multiplayer design to such a large degree. You've got a dedicated fanbase that likes the franchise and then you attempt to cater to someone else something completely different. It's like you've advertised and sold a selection of flavors of ice cream and then got rid of those flavors and decided to get the most exotic, out there flavors you can get. Yeah, you're gonna please some different people but your original customers are not gonna like it, some may, but you lose a MAJORITY of your consumer base with it. Its likely why MCC is so popular. Its old, tried and true flavors that everyone loves.

I'll admit, Halo 5 isn't a bad game. However, if you look at the first 3, you'll see many consistencies among them that set them apart from other games, consistencies that halo 4 and 5 lack . Examples include: Consistent starting loadouts: every spartan or elite would begin with the same loadout, so every player would be on even footing from the start of the round. halo 4 and 5 changed this by allowing you to choose exactly what you start off with(minus power weapons), lowering the variety of the matches as many would run the meta loadout, causing more and more engagements to be the same. Uniform movement speed: every spartan moves at the same speed, the first 3 games lacked any sort of sprint, this caused the games to be more methodical as it took more time to get to positions, it made it so maps were more condensed and planned out, big maps felt bigger, and engagements always would happen at a reasonable distance, whereas upon the addition of sprint, maps had to stretch to account for more mobility, changing many of the guns utilities as well. additionally, with the addition of clamber maps had to be made taller, which makes many jumps require clamber to make them. In the bungie halo games the maps are made to be traversable with basic jumps or crouch jumps which allows the player to always be able to shoot, melee, and nade without being locked into a clamber animation. and lastly Vehicles, which is a very simple difference. halo arena modes usually have vehicles, whether its a warthog or just a mongoose, even the basic game modes usually have them. Halo 5 however restricts them entirely to btb or warzone, taking the vehicle part of the sandbox completely out of basic playlists. Halo Infinite does have sprint, however it increases your movement by only 8% as opposed to doubling it as it used to. Clamber is a part of it as well, however many jumps can be made with a well timed crouch jump, which still allows higher skill players to traverse the map unimpeded by the clamber animation. Infinite also went back to everyone having the same loadout on spawn, which causes players to search for more effective weapons, making fights more varied and engaging. The Halo fanbase was built on the first 3 games. Those games had consistent gameplay and an enjoyable sandbox. to a majority of Halo fans Halo 1-3 are better halo games than 4 and 5. They kept the necessary elements and didn't add any unneeded mechanics. Halo Infinite didn't change the game, they went back to what has been proven to work for Halo, and the artistic liberties they took didn't overstep the key gameplay elements of Halo. While Halo is losing players at the moment, it's because of performance issues, bugs, bad aim assist, and server issues, not because of the gameplay, as many of the top streamers who have played it have said themselves that its a solid game. While this is not an extensive list of every single thing people hate or love about the games, its just some of the big topics about the differences between the classic games and 4 and 5. and while I'm sure this is a bait comment, I'm too high to really care, and I had fun reading articles and doing research to give a good argument. specially with all the polls that had the classic games (1 thru reach) earning over 70% of votes on many "Favorite Halo Game" surveys. I couldn't help but chuckle at it. bye bye now
