Wow that’s amazing! I’m a C-5 incomplete from a motorcycle accident in ‘07. I’m blessed I have the function I still do. I live independent so blessed for sure. I’ve never been able to get from the floor to my chair like she can. Thats not easy to do. She’s amazing for sure. Usually I’ll get on to something like a milk crate height then from there up to my wheelchair. I was 39 when I had my accident. Now 56. Getting older too I guess isn’t helping but I manage.

My mom is affected by Arnold-Chiari syndrom, she has bad syringomyelia and a bunch of other problems that give her a hard time constantly. She uses a walker because she has a lot of vertigo and she cant keep her balance especially if she closes her eyes. Not much sensibility to he limbs. That said, my mom ispires me everyday to try to be a better person bc she is a frivking warrior to my eyes. You remind me of her, you are a watrior, your strenght is so inspirational and motivating, your take on what has happened to you make my heart warm. You are absolutely beautiful and brave ❤ also i love how you are showing your life unfiltered to educate, raise awareness and help others in your own way. You are amazing

Thank you so much for posting this, as someone with a condition that causes paraplegia I've been trying to find tips on how to get back into my chair from the floor so this is really helpful. Do you personally find it easier to do in bare feet, I've always tried with shoes on and I've struggled. Never even thought to try it barefoot.

Im confused. Quad means four so what's quadriplegic vs paraplegic? Is incomplete quadriplegic the same as paraplegic? I hope not.
@musicobsessive123

her arms are largely functional but her legs are not. quad does mean four, but she doesnt have to be completely paralyzed in all her limbs. she does still have problems with her arm mobility
@motionless_horizon
Ай бұрын
*incomplete* quadriplegia means that she has some function below the level of injury, but all four limbs are still neurologically affected. For example, she may have some strength in her upper arms, but her hands and fine motor control is very weak. So she is a quadriplegic, as all four limbs are affected by her spinal cord injury

Forgive my bluntness and ignorance, and I hope this isn’t rude to ask (I’m genuinely curious), but isn’t quadriplegic considered from the neck down including both arms and legs? Isn’t this paraplegia, or am I getting the two confused?
@allenhawker3911
Ай бұрын
@@hannahlanai a quad just means affected in some way all 4 limbs. There are different degrees of injuries. You can be a complete or incomplete injury. Incomplete means you still might have some feelings or movement. Christopher Reeve crushed C-1 completely. He’s an example of a complete injury.

Man this must be painful as hell on your right leg (since you said there is still a tiny bit of function I guess you still feel some degree of pain ?), having all the weight of your body like that 💀
