Stacey Westfall - Nice work! Calm, slow, rhythmic and empathetic. You obviously know what you are doing, and you do it right. And one more thing... Have you noticed that you are a one in a thousand handler who keeps the line elegantly on your hand and away from the ground as it should be, as opposed to the generalized clumsy practice of leaving the rope massing about on the ground? To me, that little detail tells a lot about your marvelous personality not only when you are handling a horse but also in all walks of life. My respect to you, and I am happy that those beautiful horses are in your hands.

Thanks Stacy, your training gets right to the point. It is great that you still compete. I went to a Clinton Anderson clinic in Columbus and he spent 7 hours selling stuff and about 1 hour training. I skipped the second day.

Good Lord- Pat Parelli did not invent the universe!! Give this girl the credit she has earned from her Own Hard Work! Her mother Sherri was Stacy’s only instructor in riding and training until she went to college. The habit of getting inside the horse’s head, of thinking like a horse, became second nature to Stacy.

no, clinton is just using natural horsemanship. he just gave it a name, a brand, wich makes it so expensive. it's all the same, no matter what trainer and how you call it. because it's just horses language. nothing more ;) so stop paying this dude so much money. you can get the same lessons all over the world for way less money. (sorry for the english. i'm from germany and even we know about what clinton calls his "method" ;) )

There is no "best" trainer. It's whatever method that best suits you and what you like. Not one Natural Horsemanship trainer is better than another. They all do things a little differently, but get the same result... a well trained horse.

If you truly knew Stacey Westfall’s talent you would NEVER have a negative word to say. KNOW that she was around LONG before Anderson or Parelli! You critics are way off base here! She doesn’t use the cruel driving techniques of the former two mentioned. Pat Parelli sucks. His wife is WORSE. He is all show and no go. As for Anderson, using his techniques almost got me killed! So...no thanks. LONG may she reign! :)

Diane Fox I find it interesting also that these people somehow translate these natural horse behaviours and philosophy, etc, into their “own methods” and slap their names on it as if they invented it and are the only ones who figured it out when that isn’t even the truth. This is HORSE BEHAVIOUR and it’s about interpreting it and using it for training. I haven’t much been introduced to Stacy until recently and am a relatively new horse owner so I’m still learning a lot even tho I’ve ridden 10 years of English but had to stop for a while but anyway I very much enjoyed this video and have even seen a bridleless video once that she did and was so amazed!

Can you show us these methods on a horse that has not be trained the ques, as everything i watch is on an already trained horse. I enjoyed watchng the vid, but would love to see the method being taught , not just gone over . Many thanks :)
@daniellecarson4713

merseylassy you should be able to teach these ques to any horse, it could take you more time with horses that aren’t familiar with them at all, but you also need to set them up for success. Which would mean that you could build off of what they already know, which would be similar to using her method of introducing “woah” with leading first, then after your horse that down, move up to the “woah” exercise in the circle.

At any point do you see her use it as a whip? Sure she smacks the ground and shows the horse it's nothing to be afraid of. After this at no point was the string even away from her hand. It was just as if her arm was three feet longer.

Aponina Apů quarab is a registered breed even though it is a cross between a quarter horse and Arabian (which has been a common cross with a long history) I wouldn't even call it a designer breed or mutt. this is a quarter horse that is pregnant and the stripe along the back is a dorsal stripe because it is a Dun Factor colored QH.. dun is found in all kinds of breeds. Sheesh. they can also have stripes on their legs (duns) does that mean that they are part zebra? nah.
@Outdoorliving74

It’s dun coloured, anglos don’t throw a dun coloured horse, not sure is a cross breed with Anglo can be dun, def abit of qtr in it though, anyways still a beautiful horse

I don't believe that the horse is really "understanding" the whip going around/over her. It's more of a tolerance to it. There is a difference. Had she understood that it wasn't going to do anything harmful, she would've dropped head/cocked leg/licked lips etc.

kyblaze it’s at around 6:23, the horse steps off without her telling it to. But Stacy’s body language was also kind of telling the horse that it could move. It was faced away slightly. But it wasn’t anything that should make someone not want to follow her advice considering that’s something that ALL horse owners face
