Get outta here! I didn't know they could be grown this way. Thank you! Very, very cool.

Thanks, I just released a Kale cuttings video too. The leaves aren't as durable as cabbage so I didn't have the same success as with cabbage but they shoot roots as well.

That's COOL! I recently realized that I could take the base that I normally would throw away and start a new plant. I now have 2 growing in pots. I had no idea I could also use leaves to start new plants as well! Thank you for the information!

I had no idea this could be done!! I knew if you cut off the whole bottom of a cabbage you can regrow it. But this is soooooooo much better!! You can get twice as much cabbages this way!! So cool!!!

This is really useful. I’ve got a half cabbage sealed tight in plastic in my fridge that has been in there longer than intended. It’s sprouted roots and even struck leaves and have been researching how to plant it. This is the first information resource I’ve found that gives me some idea of what to do. If nobody else has done this before (or at least documented it) I might record footage and upload it to KZitem if there’s some benefit to it.

@@dibbleandseed yeah alright I’ll give ya a shout out if I make that video. FYI I put that cabbage half in water from the stem and it’s sprouting roots and leaves are growing out. Probably won’t be long before it’s ready to go in soil. It’d be pretty neat for a half cabbage I didn’t get around to eating to grow into a plant that can give me more cabbages in the future. I might try a similar thing with lettuce stems

Thank You for this great informative video ❤ One of my cabbages has started growing flower-like rosettes around its stem & I'm wanting to plant them but worried I'd kill them 😊

Just released a Kale Cuttings video if your keen on the cabbage clip growing. They can also be grown from the small shoots the appear on the stalks of my cuttings shown ( if you want to bump up your crop significantly without waiting for seeds).

I tried to regrow red cabbage using the bottom because that’s what I saw in another video. It didn’t work. I’ll have to try this way

Wow...that's incredible. Very clever!!! How long did it take before the leaf formed into that beautiful head of cabbage at the end of the video?

Approximately the same time it takes for a cabbage from seed.

There's a bunch of nodes on the base so I reckon it'll do the job too.👍

Gnats got to one of my stumps and ate it from the bottom. Ugh. My second in still thriving, but barely. I only have two leaves left and one has a tiny root. The other has one mini root. 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾 But needless to say, I have a pineapple with roots, and have mini lemon 🍋, grape 🍇, sweet potatoe 🥔 tomato 🍅, and apple plants 🪴 😁😁😁😁😁

Thank you so much but this didn't work for me. I think the commercial cabbages don't work well. I gave it good conditions but the base of the cabbage started to rot and go soggy. I hope this works for someone else but I'm sad it didn't for me.

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. These were shop cabbages too. Give it a crack next time you buy another. Try some of the crunchier leaves further into the cabbage. Good luck!
