There are a few factors in growing african american hair long. One place I found that succeeds in merging these is the Delfords hair fixer (check it out on google) it's the no.1 guide that I've heard of. look at all the super info .

You're going to overload your hair with protein using that conditioner so often, which will result in it breaking off again. Look up protein moisture balance, cause you're gonna kill your hair.

Nigerian over here too! So proud to be one. Okay, girl, how don't you make your hair look stiff. I flat iron my hair but it's not that "flowy" as I want it too. I've always been a relaxed haired (if that's even a thing) and I'm desesperated. I looove your hair. You look gorgeous.

_serenebrownie Here it is: - Neutralizer Shampoo - Softsheen Carson "Dark and Lovely" Anti Breakage Oil Moisturiser - Softsheen Carson Optimum Oil Theraphy (which it has coconut, olive, avocado and jojoba) - "Stylius" Conditioning mask (I put this like once a month) I eat lots of vegetables but, latetly I've been drinking a lot (and when I say a lot, believe me, it's a lot. I could finish a whole bottle in 2 days) of cold soda because of the heat. By the way, It's been a long time since I relaxed my hair and there is a lot of new growth, even though I'll get it relaxed next month. So, when I flat iron or I comb it, it doesn't stay "flat" It kinda pops out. (I don't know if you understood me). Could it be that?
@serenebrownie

Elizabeth Kerry when you flat iron it, are you getting the roots bc that could be why. I would suggest looking into the Silicon Mix or Maple Holistics Silk 18 Conditioner (online) both are great at moisturizing both your hair shaft and the roots!

_serenebrownie I don't get them. I try, but it's hard because I'm an 4a, and the fact that my natural hair it's so coily doesn't allow me to flat iron it properly. And, yeah, I'll look for it.

Elizabeth Kerry Hey Elizabeth! I have hair like yours too and while I haven't yet figured out how to get my hair as flowy as I'd like, I have gotten extremely improved results after a fresh slat iron from tutorials and tips like this (thanks _serenebrownie !) and also avoidingDark and Lovely products (I've used them most of my life and more and more, they tend to leave my hair more oily and weighed down than I care for, even one I recently found that doesn't have mineral/petroleum oils). I'm still learning, but I just thought I'd mention that.

I've been trying to stretch out my relaxer. I'm now about 7 or 8 months post relaxer but it's so hard to detangle my hair from the roots and I've gotten lots of breakage because of that. 😭 Any tips for detangling?

Hey!:) thanks for watching! I would suggest getting a conditioner that really moisturizes your hair and comb your hair out then! I recommend silicon mix but one of my favs have been Novex Bamboo Sprout deep conditioning treatment. Its very inexpensive and detangles even better than silicon mix! My recent video has the details of the conditioner if you want to try it out! Literally a lifesaver since I've had it 💕

please be careful using silicone products, over a short time,...it will cause build up and it will be hard for moisture to penetrate in the hair shafts, they have a tendency of sitting on to hear so be careful 😊

Brittney Lockett hey boo! In the video I showed my hair story and the products I used! Don't cut it off! Haha, Like what I suggest is to go to the salon so they can see the health of your hair and to cut off any dead split ends so your hair has a fresh start to grow! I deff feel like clipping my ends helped alot and also no heat! In my video you'll see I did alot of protective styles, mostly weaves because I love weaves! YES ! :D You can do wigs too or braids! I would leave my weaves in for 3 months the most, take them out, relax my hair and bun it for a while (at most a month) before I sew up my hair again. Under my weaves, I used hair oils like vitamin e oil, carrot oil, etc you can get these little oils that you just squeeze into your braids from your local beauty supply store or even the dollar store too! I never washed my hair with weaves (i know lol) but I would cleanse my scalp using Seabreeze astringent. Go to walmart! It helps for cleansing and keeping out any bad smell! And for my own leave out, I would use heat protectant (the IC heat protector in a pink bottle works well!) and straighten my leave out once a week. For my edges, I use Design Essentials and tie up my hair with a scarf! I hope that helps love! Don't give up! Deff first go to the salon and get your ends clipped if necessary and start protective styling! Like I said, I love weaves and those helped me the most!!! Deff feel free to message me anytime love!

Nice video. You mentioned that shampooing makes your hair brittle and stiff. Do you prepoo, and have you considered using a sulfate and paraben free conditioning shampoo? I used to experience the same thing too, but since I started prepooing and using a different shampoo, my hair is softer and less tangled.
