I grow mine in a 17.5 gallon container as I live in north central Florida-zone 9a. I bring it into the back screen porch in the winter and it does great. I prune mine as well so that it doesn't get taller than 8 feet. This way it becomes a very full bush and I have seen a dramatic increase in fruit yield as well. A quick side note, they are a very hearty feeder...I feed mine as much as I feed my banana trees. Also, I really enjoy your channel and content!!! Great work!!!!

I planted two of these trees in October of 2021 for my two grandchildren. They have grown really fast. I’ve already trimmed them once. The fruit ripens really fast. It’s definitely a fun tree to have. Very productive trees. Highly recommend to add to one’s collection.

Hi, I live in Vero Beach Florida and I love your channel. My husband and I have an acre and a half and we just cleared the acre and are planting a food forest. We are new to Florida and planting trees so your channel as well as Pete Kanaris and Rob Greenfield have been very informative. We just purchased a strawberry tree and can’t wait to enjoy it as much as all of you! Thank you to you and your wife and May God Bless you and your beautiful family.

@frank sly Hi! Welcome to Florida, Vero beach is a lovely spot! It’s amazing all the fun things you can grow here! There is a lot you can’t grow easily that you can grow everywhere else but if you focus on the plants that thrive here, there are so many fun things to plant and grow. We live in such a unique place to grow the wildest tropical plants! Thanks for your sweet comments and for sticking around to watch some of our videos!

I'm in Tampa, 9B, and I ordered a tiny rooted plant from Well Spring Gardens in Lakeland less than a month ago, and it has grown by leaps and bounds. I know someone nearby who has a huge tree, always loaded with dozens of berries; he has to spread a sheet out under the tree to salvage as many cherries as possible. I've taken lots of cuttings from his tree, but I haven't had any luck rooting them. So I'm glad I found out about this mail order nursery.

Thanks for the info on how to get a rooted tree mail order that turned out good for you. Someone told me they got one rooted after trying several tries; but we have failed at propagating cuttings from ours as well. We are going to try using root hormone and maybe scraping off the bark at the end too. Also maybe try to propagate green ends of the tree too and see if that is successful. We all fight over the delicious berries and my young boys usually get them before I do. They are so sweet and yummy to snack on when walking around the yard. I can’t wait to get more! Our tree is very loaded with fruit right now compared to last year when we first planted it

I bought one at Lowe's in Marianna FL last year for $25. It was about 4 ft tall and I had it on a 20 gallon bucket. It was doing very well outside. At the start of winter I took it inside my partial green house/ store shed. By the middle of January it died. I'm not totally surprised as I live in zone 8B.

No new trees or suckers from this one yet…we do have grass we mow around the area so that could be why. It isn’t growing super fast where we live maybe because of the salty air, but it is much bigger-it is low growing with a wide canopy-can check it out in the most recent tour we did!

Great video. Just bought my first Strawberry tree, I plan on keeping in a container because they can become very large and are susceptible to wind damage and breakage. I saw one recently the size of a small oak tree and an afternoon storm cracked it in half.

That’s funny you say that, we have squirrels breaking our branches to get the fruit lol. They are definitely brittle, it does seem to make it fruit more though! I can’t get enough of the berries, so good!

I was able to procure one of these recently, and while my husband and I have been very successful with everything from sugar apple trees, pomegranate, even starfruit, our little Jamaican strawberry-cherry is staying small 🤔 I've noticed it doesn't like a lot of water, but looooves the sun. Do you guys fertilize these trees at all? I'm in 9-A, and our neighbor has a beautiful and healthy specimen in a 10 gallon pot 😮so I know we can grow them here, I'm just trying to figure out how to go about watering and feeding this little treelet (that's what I call them 😂) to keep it healthy and happy

I just got a new tree and than I saw your video, I am so confused about "peers out after 7 years" the woman who gave me a small tree had a huge one in her front yard. is this suppose to die after 7 years? where did you hear that? no info in google
@IslandsnHighlands

One of the places we get our plants from in satellite beach - banana river yard is where we learned that they aren’t as prolific after 7 or so years. They get the best and most fruit when younger apparently. But I’ve seen huge trees also loaded with fruit. You will get so many baby trees from the mother tree that you can plant to replace the big one. I don’t think they will die, they just won’t give as much fruit I was told. They also won’t be as easy to pick when so tall and big. These are super fast growing trees, the lady you got it from May have only had that tree growing 5 years. They get huge fast! But they are one of my favorite fruit trees! Our kids favorite
