Very glad that the video was useful for you Shiva. Cassava has a very strong association with fungus - mycorrhiza - which help the plant to efficiently gather phosphorus from the soil. The exact fertilizer recommendation will vary depending on many things, including soil type and management, but in Asia a general rule of thumb that is often applied for N-P-K is 2-1-2, so double the Nitrogen and Potassium. Potassium is particularly important for root bulking, so will generally increase yield.

Ok but I hope you are not planning to sell internationally. That is how diseases are spread from country to country - for example cassava mosaic virus was introduced to Southeast Asia from India/Sri Lanka in 2016.

Very nice basically kassava doesn't need manure

Hi Hassan, cassava is well known as a crop that can still produce relatively high yields even on poor soils with fairly low fertility. However like all crops, harvesting does remove nutrients from the system which need to be replaced for soil sustainability. Manure is a good way to return some nutrients to the system. In cassava nutrient export can be greatly reduced by returning the residues (tops, stems, sometimes peels) to the field after harvesting the roots.

How do you fertilize cassava ? And at what time ?
@ralphvonschlutz

The video gives some advice. There are different applications in different soils, but in general I recommend a split application, half at planting or in the first month, the other half a little bit later (3 months). Watch the video for advice on fertilizer type - it should be high in K and low in P for most soils.

Adding fertilizer kills the microbiome of the soil that why you need ti u=increase the amount of fertilizer. You need to add the beneficial microbs. such as bacillus and mycorrhyza....
@ralphvonschlutz

Overuse of fertilizer can certainly harm the soil, especially through acidification. This is particularly problematic in Southeast Asia, where most cassava is grown on acid upland soils. Adding manure and incorporating organic residues into the soil are ways to maintain a healthy soil microbiome. Crop rotation with legumes has also been show to have a good effect. Synthetic fertilizers can still give good results if applied responsibly and in combination with other soil fertility management practices as discussed in this video.

Thank you Jeremy, this is very interesting. Cassava leaves are also an important food product in Africa, and in the Carribean, where you can even buy packaged frozen cassava leaves in the grocery store!

It is high labor cost for planting and harvesting. We have the mechanized equipment to save labor cost, such as cassava planter, cassava harvester for sale. We are specialized in cassava planting mechanized equipment.

Cassava planting and harvesting machinery is in regular use in several place including central Thailand. However none of this machinery is currently adapted for use on steep slopes.
