Hi Maria! I’ve been making new slips from the growth - I just cut about 12-18” pieces off the ends and stick them in water until the new roots are at least a few inches long, then we start a new pot or add them to an existing pot when we’re adding another layer of soil.

Thanks Andrea. We are growing to grow sweets in big bins in our community garden in Tampa. I was struck that you plant in August and harvested in December. Also in the last two months, do you recommend cutting the growing tips to direct more energy into the tubers? I've heard very different recommendations on this.

Why do you not plant them earlier so that they are slightly larger? (Preparing to plant my 1st ever sweet potatoes in Bradenton) Thanks

Hi there! This year I planted my sweet potatoes in April and May- and one bag in June when I had some new slips. Most of the time my planting is determined by when my containers are ready for replanting. Thanks for watching- happy planting!
