I have thornless blackberries, they are awesome!! There's loads of wild thorny blackberries where I live so I pick them too...but for my garden the thornless is the way to go. My thornless is on a northwest facing fence, it's in its first season in that spot and it's doing well...actually better than I expected. I'm sure it'll get better year on year

Really great to hear you have one too and that it's doing well! What's the actual taste like?

Brimwood Farm last year was its first and the couple of fruit I got was slightly sweeter than the wild berries. This year I thought the birds keep getting to them before me, but my husband just told me he's eating them and they taste like the big juicy Waitrose blackberries.

Mrs Hurried Mum I love black berries, but those damn wild thorny blackberries are a pain in my ass they grow so fast and nothing kills them with out damaging the area around it. You can try to pull them up with gloves but there always seems to be another one that pops out, and then they like to hide and take take over thick bushes... I can't believe I'm thinking about planted thornless blackberries because of my disgust if the thoened variety

Hi Geoff ! So I'm currently playing a certain amount of video watching catch up ! Lol ! Great addition to your garden, indeed ! Actually, five years ago, I planted 4 different varieties of blackberries (Triple Crown, Asterina, Black Diamond and Laciniate blackberries ) along a SW facing fence on a quite shady spot. I set them up on a 2 meter high wire netting. They do very well so far with loads of fruits every summer. At winter time, I just have to cut back mature canes that beared fruits the previous summer. How was your first BB harvest last summer ?

Just starting to flower! I never got around to putting them into the garden so they're in pots in the conservatory....I must pick them tomorrow to encourage more buds.
