I mistakenly let a friend into our house during middle school. That decision haunts me to this day. I'm sorry about your spaghetti dinner situation.

That must have been a real hard time growing up. Kudos to being so open about it. That takes a lot of internal strength.

That Hockey story is horrifying. I feel for you. I would have left the hockey team as soon I realize I had to eventally host. It's such a stupid situaiton, it's absurd.

Oh gosh, the thing about brushing your teeth everyday, when I was a child living with my hoarding grandma I was absolutely mortified when I saw her using MY toothbrush, so I just gave up brushing my teeth, but when I got braces my dentist got really worried that I wasn't brushing, and they told me to keep my toothbrush in my room, of course things are better nowadays, but I still have a spare toothbrush out of irrational fear

You do a really good job of speaking in front of the camera. Your presentation is very personable. I hope this is something you’ve been able to take advantage of in your regular life.

I had a friend in school whose parents were hoarders but they allowed me in their house. It was shocking to me and I still remember it to this day going over just one time. My mother was a clean freak and the complete opposite of her mother, that was the first time I realized not everyone else’s home is clean.

My mother was a hoarder when I was a kid, but we had a working bathroom. Her hoarding has gotten worse, so she no longer has a working bathroom.

It's true that we get used to our smell and can't notice if something is slightly bad, just when it's different.

I'm glad to see you back Kym! I grew up in a similar (though not quite as bad) situation and can sympathize. I won't say I turned into a neat freak but I definitely prefer a cleaner house because of it.

An honest reflection, friend! One of my favorite toothpastes…is refreshing and cleaning and healthy. The taste is lighthouse to me now: “Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil & Neem Toothpaste”

Thanks Kym for this, thankfully the hoarders in my life weren’t hoarding while raising kids. Shows like Hoarder’s Buried Alive don’t often depict the impact to children out of privacy concerns, but I remember Niecy Nash’s show Clean House sometimes skirted such issues for borderline cases. Seems suspect to accept the consent to interview children when parents aren’t coping well.

Hi Kym. ABC News just used your image on one of their stories about Uber released today. Did they reach out to you? The story was about female driver safety.
