Frankly this is so stereotypical, I’ve settled my first and only home in Richmond since 1993, I’ve never learned to speak Cantonese as all my negative racial experiences were from Hong Kong immigrants. I came from Taiwan speak Mandarin only, was often treated with sour faces which would turn into pleasant ones while facing local “white” people. My English speaking ability is even better than most people from HK and I’m still learning. Both my daughters are bilingual, went to public schools and graduated from UBC, the older one holds PhD in English Literature in UK.
I really enjoy listening to the conversation between both of you. I am a Taiwanese Canadian who lived in Taiwan for 27 years, studied music in U.S.A. for 8 years, and live in Canada for 27 years. Your KZitem programs are very meaningful to me for understanding both countries. I am proud of being a Taiwanese as well as being a Canadian. Thank you very much.
He is the son of Kalvin's Kitchen on Victoria & 35th in East Van. We've been going there for decades for Taiwanese style Sichuan food. His uncle might have been the proprietor of the original Jin Yuan on Rumble & Royal Oak Ave in Burnaby. My dad was friends of his grandpa may years ago before he pass away....
No place is perfect! Canada is a Beautiful country, needs time to adjust to different cultures. . Find the PEACE in your heart anywhere you pass by (stay) or visit! 隨遇而安,慢慢適應!Enjoy!🥰

台灣小吃店在 Richmond 的restaurant 有賣控肉, so does T& T supermarket
What a Nonsense crap like -->"先決條件是...這個國家的社會氛圍是屬於慢活又悠閒..." Just because Many Taiwanese's civilization level is too Low just like you, so the traffic is big mess in Taiwan.

If I had settled down in Richmond as my first place when I immigrated to Canada, my kids would have been able to speak Mandarin & 台語 fluently
After living in Canada for 30 years, I would definitely “ignore” people like Cole with no “over-friendly” attitude. Simply because they are just “ordinary”. As per my own experiences, using or speaking English in Taiwan does get advantage sometimes. People in Taiwan need to have more self-respect and dignity, also treat your own people with “hospitality” first!

Weird comments you have. Since when being friendly is seen as lack of self-respect and dignity?

Whether it is a Taiwanese or a foreigner asking about traffic conditions, my attitude is always sincere. People with bad attitudes are in the minority. Most people are very kind. There are volunteers everywhere.

I think it was required class in elementary school for students in the 1970s. Your parents taught you what they had learnt in school.

@debbiehsu Guessed you meant what the kid had to learn, not the parents had to learn.
Vancouver was mainly Taishanese pre-1970s after that was the wave of Hong Kong people mid 90's some Taiwanese started coming, around the mid 2000's was the start of mainland chinese. since COVID wave of younger Hongkong and Taiwanese students started coming. When Daniel said his dad's taiwanese palce was in east van then i already knew which one, but when you said his name I knew I was correct.

餐廳叫什么名字? 開在East Van. 為何不開在Richmond,? 是賣台灣牛肉麵嗎? 也許 Richmond 太多中餐舘了, 太競爭了吧?
That's hypercritical theory talking about race discrimination. Be honest, I never ever fell discriminated against by other races here. On the other side, I had helped by many Americans during my first decade settle down in NYC. People claimed it because misunderstanding the Laws, rules, relating to the ideas, customs, and social behavior of a society.

The Power of the AI PC Era Recently, Intel boss Ji Singer came to Taiwan frequently. NVIDIA boss also came to Taiwan in the same way. What happened? AI pc is ready to be mass-produced and shipped, with global sales expected to exceed 100 million units (2024). AI pc can only be produced in Taiwan. The price of a single machine is about NT$150,000-250,000. The total sales volume is approximately NT$20 trillion, which is unique to Taiwan. Will Taiwan’s real estate industry be lonely? Apple Iphone 16 is positioned as AI iPhone 16. Apple Co.Cook and NVIDIA CEO are currently formalizing Ai Mpu. iPhone 16 is expected to sell 100 million units. It is also completely manufactured by TSMC and is valued at NT$10 trillion. Will Taiwan’s real estate industry be lonely?
