Those look tasty and natural. When the meat of the fruit is all cracked its because they used something to speed up the growth. Also you can tell if I watermelon is ready by looking at the stem on the melon. If it looks like a umbilical cord then the plant went through a natural process were it comes off the plant on its own. If there is no such thing it's probably because it was pick before it was ready.

It's a really neat system because it's durable and it costs very much the same as some larger gardening containers, except 100 times stronger =)

@@KhangStarr In watching that set up again Khang, with the interlayering of woody materials with the growing medium. did the woody material settle in firmly as the Kholrabi grew? That sure is a fine example of a family's meal in one container!

I'm just wondering if there are drain holes in the bottom of the trash bin. Do drain holes matter when the container is that deep? Thanks in advance!
@KhangStarr

I did not put drain holes because we never get enough rain to flood the bin. If you live in an area with too much rain, you may need drain holes.

Your watermelon looks like ancient variety and seem too much seedy and fibrous, Maybe try growing modern seedless watermelon variety instead ?

These are Jubilee. They're seedy but not fibrous, very sweet though.
