Should get my 26L on Thursday, can’t wait! You must have an in with the GORUCK crew to get yours so early! With all the hard work and effort, the price tag becomes apparent. This is by far and away the best ruck I’ve seen. I’m really hoping it’s everything I expect it to be. I was thinking of using a 3M clear sheet much like on a car to protect the bad ass patch from dings and rock chips.

Fantastic review; what do you think about the new GR2 26L X-Pac as EDC taking it with me to the sites/projects? I am a telecommunication engineer. My concerns about the material's durability and overall compared to the 500 OG. And do you recommend getting the side handles if I buy it, or will it ruin the look of it? Advise, please

I’ve been using this bag for several months, and I found it to be very durable. I, however, would never add additional handles to this bag.

Thank you for this review. Have you had a chance to see if the zipper for the main compartment has broken in and is at least as easy to use as a normal GR1?
@Rucking
Жыл бұрын
Honestly... no. Still tight and clunky around the corners. Really have work to get it "just right" to be smooth. Annoying, but I've adapted how I access. Typically just side zip and reach in for my stuff.

Hearing that its a denim, do you think the material can become soft and flexible like a broken down jeans or is it hard and crunchy like dyneema or xpac?
@Rucking
Жыл бұрын
Time will tell, but it seems logical to think not will soften some over time.
@jaredweiman2987
Жыл бұрын
It’s easily the stiffest material I’ve seen on a GR. Not in a bad way. But once it breaks in, it’ll be even better. Zippers are tough on the corners but softening already. That “fresh out of the bag” feel is always rough.

These just came in stock so I’m hoping someone can answer, how do you think this would stand up in terms of long term durability for mainly edc and light travel? I have a 1000d 26l slick rn and mainly use it for edc so I’m just wondering how the weight and durability compares. (I know 1000d is the best of the best, like I said just curious of a comparison)

Thanks for the great review! What is life like with the GRXC2 now all these months later? How well (or poorly) has it patina'd? Has it softened significantly or has it maintained that sweet stiffness?
@Rucking

Used daily for about a month and then had been on two trips, me of which was 2 weeks on the road used by my son. Held up great. Not a lot of patina, but some. Still pretty stiff. Might be different if was used daily for 6 months.

Nice video. I don’t get your comments on the shoulder strap webbing. Goruck should have never allowed unfinished bags without it. A bag without a sternum strap is a non-starter for me. Useless.
@Rucking

Like I said in the video, some people love ‘em. Unless I’m rucking (which I won’t do with this bag) I’ve never used shoulder molle. So, personally, I’d rather loose it and just have that pretty denim and stitching be unobstructed.

You didn't even bother to do the math before getting upset. A 21L GR1 is $325. You said that I could get one of those and two "high end bags" for the price of this one ($700). If you subtract the GR1 ($325) from the $700 budget you gave here, you're left with $375. You could buy another GR but you're not getting a high end bag and you're sure as hell not buying two high end bags with just under $400.

OVERPRICED…
@Rucking
Жыл бұрын
Expensive, yes. Hard to say overpriced since the material is fully custom and we don’t really have a price comparison for 15.5 denim with stitching in it. Overpriced implies we know the cost of production and markup. It is double a normal GR1, but Cordura is a super common material. I mean, I guess I get that it is expensive, just don’t know how you can objectively claim it is overpriced. And, the market clearly paid for it. So, guess it wasn’t overpriced.

Not 100% wrong. The article was like 37 pages long. Every initial review will be a rehashing of it until we can use it for a few months. That's also why I put "first look review." But, if you want the stuff that isn't in Taylor's article, "I don't like the molle on the shoulders straps. The zipper is a bit tight around the edges. I think it lives up to the picture. It is very sturdy and can stand on its own."
