That's a vacuum line from the intake manifold of carb 2, which opens the vacuum operated petcock, and the 2 lines from the carb fuel header are the vent lines from the carb bowls to equalize the bowls to atmospheric pressure so the bowls can feed properly, they are not overflow lines from the carbs. The rubber tubes that go on those vent lines need to be at least a foot long and run down behind the transmission to prevent turbulence when riding from causing fluctuation of the pressure on the top of the float bowls , which will cause erratic running in windy conditions or at higher speeds.

There is no pressure in the carb pushing the fuel into it. That is a vacuum line that opens a valve that allows the fuel to flow by gravity from the tank to the carbs. This is an automatic off switch so you dont have to remember to turn your fuel off when you park the bike.

I just bought a gs850 came with a spare tank and petcock but that petcock is not vacuumed it’s on or off. Can I use that or do I need to use a vacuum petcock?
@craigg4246
Жыл бұрын
@@CinnaBohn85 i would think you could use it. But why would you want to? If the vacuum petcock is working, it sure beats having to turn the fuel on and off every time you ride the bike. I recently bought a rebuild kit for the vacuum petcock on my GS1000GT. Was very inexpensive. I would stay with the vacuum. If you forget to turn it off just one time, you can come back to an empty gas tank and a crankcase full of gas…

I was told that pod filters really mess up the carbs so I’m got to try to leave on the factory black plastic and instead of connecting it to the metal box in the middle I’ll try putting the pod filter on that and see if it helps

It “messes up” the carbs because apparently a ton of people don’t rejet despite the fact that they are leaning out the engine. The same applies to straight piping

Damn, I got it right. My old man gave me his 850 for my fz6 when I did my spine In. The 850 has 3 lines out from tank 2 on the petcock and the other side has a wide line. Turns out it's gonna be a shim issue it seems. Bugger.

I have the one fuel line okey on mine. The smaller one I have trouble with. It's on the fuel tank thing. In this video it's on the other side and you get to hook it to the fuel tank thing, but my question is from the fuel res pri thing, where does it Plug into? I see it goes down between carbs in front, but to what!? I can't seem to find anything to Plug it onto

What does the long hose from the tank do and where does it go
@Keith1212
3 жыл бұрын
Two hoses come from the tank. One is a thick one that is for fuel of course. The smaller diameter hose is for the pressure from the carb to work the diapram in the petcock to allow fuel to flow to the carb. Though no fuel flows through the skinnier line.
@boi_9421
