Im up for the whole shebang as well. I'm so excited as I think I just blew a headgasket in my 6.5 suburban due to a thermo failing while I was letting it warm up one morn. 250,000 on the motor. Your vid will help me decide if I'm going to tackle this project myself or hand it off to my mechanic. Trying to keep my 1994 6.5 K2500 4X4 Silverado Suburban for a long time but man it requires some work and determination lol. Just want a nice classic reliable truck to drive and I'm so fond of the OBS Suburban platform for its versatility and classic good looks. Thaks So Much for your Awesome vids and generous sharing of 6.5 content!

Post the whole shebang, if it's easier for you. The thing about KZitem is that one has the ability to fast forward. Whatever you decide, I'm up for it.

That’s whats going to happen. I’m trying to clean up transitions, when we moved cameras. When we dropped them. I never realized how many times we shook stuff around. Just trying to get it assembled and out for the masses.

Great info! I'll be adding additional gauges on my 1989 gm 6.5 diesel pickup, what brand and type of gauges do you recommend? Thank you

I’ve had really good luck with autometers over the years. Leroy diesel sells a nice kit with everything you need from glow shift that is good quality now too.

I was wondering what you know about "Harland Sharp Rocker Arms" are they worth it. The best I can find is Leroy diesel he said its like a cam. I plan on building the motor and its this or the whole replacing the nylon plastics with a bolt. Wanted to get your insight before 700$ goes out the door.

Unless it’s an engine you plan on doing some extensive work on? I wouldn’t get a set. They are nice and I’ve been around a few. But I don’t see the need for them on an everyday truck.

I just found out the head gaskets on my 93 6.5 are going and time to replace. Is it a terrible job? I'm gunna attempt it myself, I can't fathom paying someone 5k to do it. 😂

I got a 6.5 in a trade deal with a “bad starter” dude didn’t tell me that he somehow managed to strip the block out when trying to replace it. Not quite sure what to do. Got any ideas?

You can see if LeroyDiesel still offers the thread repair kit or not and get the front bracket mount.

hey man i have a 95' 6.5t i was wondering if you had any insight on this. i was cranking my truck on a cold day and all was well. it didnt start so i cycled the glow plugs again. only thing is when i went to cycle them the glow plug light didnt come on and the inline fuel pump didnt come on either. i thought it was the glow plug relay and replaced it and got nothing. then i replaced the ignition switch and got nothing. at this point im either thinking the grounds or the ecu. which one would you think is more likely?
@gingersnapcustoms

Sounds like a bad oil pressure sensor from here.

@@gingersnapcustoms replaced the oil pressure sensor and got the inline fuel pump to come back so I appreciate that. However my glow plug light still won’t come on. I’ve checked all fuses and replaced the relay would you just suggest checking the grounds from the video you made about all the ground locations?

Hey, kinda unrelated but curious what brznd bearings you find to be best for a 6.5? I gotta make an oil pressure issue go away on a rebuilt navistar block. Runs perfect but drops pressure when warm. I'm pretty sure it's a cam issue but while it's apart I'm going to re clearance everything with micrometers etc instead of plastigauge so I wanna be sure this time. It was low kms( like next to new) when I bought it but was apart for an unknown reason that wasnt obvious until I checked the lifters. Three were stuck but were fine after cleaning junk out of em. No other problems were found except I didn't clearance the cam. I assumed it was not machined in anyway and visibly looked fine.

I’ve had the best luck with Victor reinz and Mahle with these. They just take a bit to get in some cases.
