Powerhouse producer David Polemeni, Vice President Film & Television Publishing at BMG, a major international music and publishing company, reflects on his distinguished career and discuss the evolution of the music and film industry.
David has represented the music of Jose Feliciano, Sheryl Crow, Creed, Evanescence, Drowning Pool, John Denver & Norman Whitfield to name a few.
Mr. Polemeni’s musical career began as a singer songwriter and musician for the band Boystown, a popular New Jersey band in the 1980s. Their album Angels With Dirty Faces had two songs that were licensed into the hit TV show 21 Jump Street starring Johnny Depp. This led to a shift in his career from live music into music publishing, where he learned how to effectively place and license music in films, especially independent films, and from this he also transitioned into film production.
David Polemeni strongly believes we are all artistic with the power to create. In a wide-ranging conversation with General Society Executive Director, Victoria A. Dengel, he will explain how this applied in his own life, where at every stage he perceived new opportunities and forged a new creative position. The interview will focus on the business of music into film as well as the discovery of talent and the creative and commercial development of an artist or band. He will discuss the many changes in the Industry as it relates to the impact of the digital age.
David Polemeni's success with innovative and profitable deal making in the worlds of music publishing and production has made him a ground-breaking figure. As the Vice President of Film & Television Publishing at BMG, Mr. Polemeni develops music publishing partnerships in Film and Television worldwide. His breakout deal in 2006 for the acquisition of the Foghat/Dave Peverett Estate, including the hits Slow Ride and Fool For the City earned coverage in Forbes, and was a contributing factor in the rise of Bicycle Music, which recently became Concord Music. His experience in film music led to the addition of film production.
Mr. Polemeni is the Executive Producer of The Tutor starring Noah Schnapp (Stranger Things), That’s Amore starring John Travolta, Producer of 40 Years of Rocky: The Birth of A Classic narrated by Sylvester Stallone and Producer of the award-winning documentary Stallone, Frank That Is.
The interview will conclude with a performance from young musician, Aidan Jude. Fast-rising singer songwriter Aidan Jude recently released Beggar’s Tavern, the full-length debut from his band Jude and The Strangers, coming in May 2023, and contributed four tracks on the soundtrack of the new film The Tutor as well as the theme song to the racing documentary Hunt vs. Lauda: The New Generation. He also recently signed a publishing deal with Kobalt Cinematic and will be working this year with songwriter/producer PJ Bianco who has worked with the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato. Aiden Jude is David Polemeni's youngest son.
