You’re definitely right I’ll sort it eventually, it’s just really frustrating/ annoying that there’s nothing obvious or easy to sort it🤷♂️

If you’re referring to the wavy washer on the 2nd starter idle gear pin, that goes between the gear cog and the outer casing it’s definitely there, take a look at 26mins20secs, but thanks for having my back🙏

4:54 where that connection is on the starter, i ran a wire from there directly to the starter relay on lhs juat behind the seat panel thats where the starter relay sits. Try running a wire direct from relay to that point on the starter, then test it an let us know🙏

Hi, I pretty much do the same test (at 33mins) but I run the cable straight from the battery to the starter instead of from the live side of the starter solenoid. Which pretty much shows it’s almost definitely the starter motor yet I still take the starter solenoid off and test it🤷♂️😂

I’ve had a look at that and it is definitely activating every time🙏 I don’t know if you can leave it permanently wired and bypass the switch, I deleted it on one of my old V-Stroms but it didn’t like it on a younger model V-Strom🤷♂️

This sounds stupid have you checked your battery it could be on its way out chuck another good battery on it and try that??

Definitely worth mentioning, sometimes it is the easiest bits that are overlooked. I fitted a new battery a couple of months ago and when I checked it a little while before Christmas, after the bike had been stood for a week, it was holding 12.8v. The charge system is giving 14.1v - 14.5v to the battery at idle to 5000rpm. So I’m sure the battery and charge system are all good. Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it🙏, any more suggestions welcome👌

there nothing wrong with the starter relay its the starter motor (that new one is junk)

The starter relay tested good so I’ll strip the original starter and see if I can find anything wrong with it. The ‘new’ starter will be returned as I agree with you it’s junk👌

That would be ruff 🐶 The earth cable all looks good and the connection to the engine is clean and tidy. Thanks for commenting, I’ve missed these bits before when looking for a fault, so I’m glad of a nudge now and again 🙏

Just, when you said about the delay/hesitation, which is an indicator of a bad connection or can be, have you checked the Start Button, since everything else checks out. Cheers Woof.@@bikerantics5001

@bob4bob3bob2bob I think I’ve cured it, video coming soon🫡, but with the bad weather I’ve not really had enough trips to fully test the starter system. I hadn’t factored in the starter button, as I said earlier it’s easy to overlook the simpler explanations, so I might strip it anyway and check the connections. Thanks 🙏
