I finally got gold!!!!!! Wow. I wasted 3 weeks in AT. The closest i could come was .50 After less than a day in MT for the straight stretches , hairpin and spoon I nailed it. Only beat it by .015 but whatever!!! I think I struggled on it as much as anyone could. It's obvious The devs wanted people to be using MT for this exam. When in MT it's relatively easy.... If someone can beat this in AT that would be crazy. It just doesn't look right having all gold and then one silver for the final. Thank you for all the help! To think all it was was MT.... Although I wasn't good enough to leave it in MT the entire race just in the certain spots and then I would change it back

I'm on controller pad acceleration and am used to driving on AT as well. This one (alongside the snow license) forced me to drive on MT instead, and after over 500km of attempts on AT and still over a second from the cut-off, I made gold in a few laps of attempts upon switching to MT. The trick is, as you mentioned, throttle control, and due to the car's turbo, you would be amazed how much more efficient it is to 3rd gear a low-speed sector when it would have been 2nd gear if you are doing that on AT (in principle, that means one if not two gears higher than what would have been for the speed on AT). In other words, you would not be shifting as often as the AT would, and at the same time getting a lot more stability and predictability out of the car without punishing yourself to practice finger tapping the pad throttle.

@@dkell1597 Do try the MT. Controller is not an issue, I can guarantee, the problem is that this car has so much horse power that if you use AT on the default gear ratios, the engine power output would cause wheel spin (which literally is a lost of traction during acceleration as well as a lack of car control) below 120 km/h and thereby slow you down. The only way to counter this (without the option of car tuning) is by using a higher gear during low speed range acceleration. I know it's counter intuitive but it is how things work in real world as well. It is also possible to do that on AT, but as you have tried, it requires a hell lot of practice on throttle control and the return isn't as pronounced as if you adapt to MT. In case you are not confident in MT, remember, the point is not to shift as frequently as the AT would, it's to have better traction and control and that the high horse power would more than make up for the higher gear's seeming inefficiency.

@@stormmeansnowork The key is to skip a gear and play gently with the accelerator pedal. Without MT it's probably hell. You try for 1000 years and you're still in the same place. Many thanks to you and of course to “SB” Best regards 😝

Omg I fiiinally got a gold time, 1:43:780, great explainer vid. I wasn't able to get a good time with TCS on, I ended up doing TCS zero, any TCS was pulling too much power on corner exits, using controller I used the suggested brake balance +4, manual trans, and super precise throttle applications, especially on corner exits

Just a quick tip for anyone struggling: I spent hours and hours and hundreds of miles trying to get gold. I was using a controller with automatic transmission, 0 TCS and weak ABS. Today, I changed my settings to manual with TCS 1 and this made a huge difference. I know using manual on a controller feels unnatural and much more difficult compared to using a wheel, but for this particular challenge whilst using automatic, I noticed it tends to favour downshifting to gear 1 around most corners which means you get a lot of wheel spin coming out of these, ultimately sacrificing time. I just got gold and I didn't use gear 1 for any corner and came out of most of them using gear 2. It will take some getting used to using manual but I found this is what the made the difference. Good luck.

Thanks for the video. Like you replied to someone else. It just has to be a perfect run to get gold on this test. I'm still half a second away from gold, but after seeing your video, I'll get it eventually. Also, they did a really poor job creating an automatic transmission for this F1 car. You should be able to at least go into settings and set the rev limiter to allow it to shift earlier. Thanks again for the video.

No problem! Glad the video helped. I found that with this car on automatic, you’ve got to be gentle with R2 / throttle, specially when exiting a corner, imagine like you’re firing a gun and you’ve got to keep pulling the trigger. That’s how you’ve got to apply the accelerator when exiting, on and off then completely on. You get better traction. Same when going through fast corners, you’ll hear me say feather the throttle on and off. Hope this helps, let me know when you’ve smashed it 😉👍🏻

I DID IT, I DID IT, I DID IT!!! OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! 1:43.768. 0.062 within the Gold time (1:43.830). I just made it! I learnt MT and did it in 164.5 miles. I don't think you can get Gold on this test with AT, I wasted like 3.5 weeks trying to do something that was never going to happen. If only I had known about this before! I didn't think I would be able to do it, I doubted myself, I was almost ready give up but when I tried using MT I improved my personal best by 0.500 after 102 miles. That made me believe that I could actually do it! And then when you hear the Gold music after 1000+ attempts (maybe and probably more than that, seriously) it sounds amazing! That was the hardest thing I have ever done on a video game (I'm not joking). In the end it was all about MT. To anyone who is struggling on this, you have to learn how to use MT (AT is impossible). I had the TCS on 1 and the Brake Balance on 3 towards the rear. That was one mentally exhausting license test (that lasted 3.5 weeks), I have never experienced anything like that (and I hope I never do again!). I'm so glad it's over! All 10 Super Master License test are Gold! I'm so pleased!

Don't lose hope! I spent 100 hours on S-10 maybe more and this helped me just pass it: You need to be in MT for the start of the race with TCS set to 1 The starting chicane just stay in 3rd gear then when you upshift after it go from 3rd straight to fifth . Itll take a bit of practice to find the timing to shift up two gears quickly so play with that a bit. Shift to 6th normally after 5th is maxed out after a bit down the straight stretch put TCS to 2 and switch to AT..... You'll find now that if done properly you'll be way ahead of the ghost by the end of the straight stretch compared to before when you couldnt ever pass him before the first corner Go through the course when you go below the bridge put TCS to 1 . When you're braking for the hairpin when the AT down shifts to 3rd . Pause the game and set back to MT stay in 3rd for the hairpin. There is no reason to ever go below 3rd gear while in MT So you just exited the hairpin in MT in 3rd with TCS on 1... Wind out 3rd gear, same thing again upshift 2 gears straight to 5th gear ... Once 5th is pinned switch to 6th ..... Put TCS back to 2 before the spoon. For the spoon you pretty much want to hit the brakes and down shift straight to 3rd and stay in 3rd pretty much most of the way around the corner.... When you upshift go straight to 5th then put TCS back to 1... Wind it out and switch to 6th Get some revs in 6th then put TCS back on 2 when close to pinned in 6 switch back to AT and keep it there till the end.. And then break at 150 for the chicane.. Pretty much hold the brake until you see that slightly different green on the first corner of the chicane and when you see that you know it's time to let off the brake and turn, you have to clip both curves especially the second one to stand a chance of getting gold. They give you lots of leeway and it's like a lighter shade green. This sounds complicated but break it down slowly because it's really not. I was in the exact same boat as you, I had no hope. MT gives a huge increase to straight stretches. So I try to have TCS on 1 for them and on 2 for any cornering.... I use the view clean view so depending on what view you use your timing might be different for the chicane For the cleanview it works really good to let off your brake and start turning when you see that different discoloration of green on the first corner of the chicane. Before you let off the brake though make sure your already holding the controller to the right though... I was at my wit's end until I tried this method but it works guaranteed. Give yourself a bit of time to get used to MT . I only had it on MT where it was absolutely necessary and then I always switched back to AT. Previously my fastest time was .50 to slow after thousands of attempts... With the above method it took me 3 hours and bam it'll work for you too. Put the brakes to 5 rear.
