Alright, please be patient with me. I'm old, and I haven't played GTA since Vice City on a PS3. I'm thoroughly confused about how this RP stuff works on GTA5. 1. How many of the civilians are actual players, and how many are NPCs? For example, in the above vid, the fruit stand guy is a real player, but he doesn't just stand there in the game waiting for something to happen, does he? If so, that would seem like the worst role in the game, and boring as heck. 2. How many of the police cruisers/officers are actual players, and how many are NPCs? For example, do the police RP players pull over or interact with only other players or other players and NPCs as well? How the heck are the police RP players so dang knowledgeable about codes, regulations, police procedure, etc.? Do they actually write tickets, and is there actually a RP player working dispatch? 3. I was watching the helicopter shoot-down last night (great episode), but our guys didn't roll up to the scene until well after the police had arrived at the crash site. So, my question is: What are the police RP players actually doing at the crash site? And, when they go back to their stations, do they actually write up reports or interact at the station with people? 4. Are the police RP players allowed to use maps? It seems that, during a chase, they can stick with the guys running (or find them far, far away from the incident) without much trouble. Is using maps to find the criminals allowed during RP? That's all I have for now. Again, sorry if I sound stupid asking these questions; but, I'm actually just old...
@j.avance9031

NaterXXX: Here's your answers. 1. It can be a little difficult to tell a player from an NPC when they have names turned off, but NPCs usually stay in specific routes like walking down a sidewalk or badly driving a car. A player can be seen doing things NPCs usually don't like running or stealing cars. I'd say that guy at the fruit stand probably has more then one character, and that one just happens to be a proud fruit stand owner. He'd send out an add to every other player in the game telling them about his fruit stand then he waits until someone comes to buy something or rob him etc, but yes I'd say its probably pretty boring. 2. They have NPC cops turned off, so every cop you see is a real person, and they only pull over real players. If they see an NPC crash a car they might react to it, and ask the person if they're okay, but they're usually ignored, or deleted if they cause a massive pile up. They're so knowledgeable because they have their own laws, training, and penal code within the game that the police and citizens have to go by, and yes they really write tickets in a RP police database, but its more like a record of your crimes for other police officers to know what you've done, and yes a player does work dispatch and coordinates all the police officers. 3. They conduct an investigation and see if they can figure out why it crashed. The only time the police go to the station is to put someone in jail, or maybe for questioning. They usually write reports up in their cars more than at police stations and even then it's only tickets, written warnings, and a few other things. 4.Yes they can use the map to locate criminals, but its seen as a cardinal sin within the RP community. It's just something your not supposed to do, but you can.

You're not stupid and you're not old, stop saying that.. RP is interesting and complicated to new audience from all ages believe me, and dictates that all players go along the RP rules or they can get banned from a server, usually you don't get insta banned but more or less you can be monitored if you're having too much fun around breaking RP, but in no way is it okay to blatantly ruin RP for others (ofcourse exceptions exist, and I draw mine at family emergencies and other real life important stuff) Cheers
