[GUARANTEED] Homemade Method for Making EARTHWORM FLOUR
In this video, Professor Jair A. Dionísio will demonstrate how to make worm flour in five steps.
The first phase is separating the California red worms (Eisenia andrei) from the vermicompost. For this purpose, they are raised with fruit and vegetable scraps to avoid contamination.
The second phase is the external cleaning of the worms (purging) with water to remove organic material adhered to the worms. In this phase, internal purging is also carried out by immersing the worms in a 4% sodium chloride (NaCl) solution for 20 minutes.
The third phase is determining the initial mass of the worms to calculate the final yield.
The fourth phase is dehydrating the worms in a microwave oven with a power of 900 watts and a frequency of 2,350 Hertz for 15 minutes.
The fifth phase is grinding, i.e., crushing the worms in a blender, dividing them into particles smaller than 2 mm.
Usage
Worm flour can be used as animal feed (for fish, poultry, birds, and even for human consumption) as a source of protein.
Preservation
The worm flour produced in this way has a moisture content below 15% and can be stored in jars with lids for periods longer than six months.
