How delighted I am that you were interested in my comment, remembered and hunted Rosa Magnifica and that you found it and you're thrilled with it, yes, it seems to have kept very well. Thank you for the wonderful review, I agree 'younger sister', I was so interested to hear your take on it 🌹

Thank you so much for this review. I picked up a bottle of this in the early 2000's online. I wore it religiously every day for months, then felt it had gone off, and quit wearing it. Your review sent me looking for it, and I think it's actually ok. I probably became a bit anosmic to it back in the day. I've had it stored all these years in a cool dark drawer. For me it has just the slightest hint of that grassy note (not the mint) that Herba Fresca has. I wonder if there are some common notes to all the Aqua Allegorias. Your description of Nahema makes me want to go sample it. ;)

nahéma was the perfume I wore when I was in law school in 1980. It was a unique perfume, believe me. But it has since been reformulated by Guerlain, and the current nahema looks nothing like the original; the same goes for other perfumes from this house like Chamade. very sad

There’s no doubt it’s been changed to some extent. Thanks very much for watching.

I wish they still made this one! I guess I will have to hunt down a vintage now. At this time of year Lavande Velours is one of my go to scents. The quality of it is just outstanding let alone the composition, which has a clear Guerlain something about it ( a herbal lavender and iris accord in this case). And after having written about it I am left with no option: I will have to wear it today :)

My bottle of Rosa Magnifica has arrived. Thank you for bringing it back to my attention. I am more than stunned by it! It is like the younger sister of Nahema and hence can be nothing other than a love to me. I am also convinced now that I will have to hunt down the Ylang too. The quality of those early Aqua Allegorias is gorgeous beyond belief!

The enlarged size of the picture, beyond the natural size of the flower, is what makes it look like a peony. In German peonies are called pentecost roses. This picture has explained to me why that may be.

The ranunculus rose as pictured looks scent-loaded, nearly monstrous. Great packaging. Question off topic if I may: have you ever reviewed Bal a Versaille (Desprez)? Thoughts?💐

I've thought about repurchasing this one many times over the years ... think you've made my decision for me. ;) RM was one of the finest of the Aqua Allegoria line. The OG's were all fabulous. // I have a beautiful, fairly large printed (late' 70s) fabric with the Nahema orange & pinky-red imagery. Husband bought it secondhand but I'm thinking it might have come from the Guerlain Mothership store..? They likely used it to beautifully wrap-up bottles of Nahema. We need to get it framed like they did the older Marimekko prints ... stretched out and held underneath by a simple wooden frame.

The Aqua Allegorias are so often wonderful, I personally miss Jasminora which is now essentially extinct. Aqua Allegorias are one of those things where I still have total faith in Guerlain, however, to keep giving interesting new releases in the future.

Folks, acknowledging all the problems of slotting perfumes into categories, is Nahema closer to what people call “unisex,” or is it squarely traditionally female?
@Persolaise
Жыл бұрын
Okay… let’s try and give you an honest answer. From a western perspective: probably feminine. From a Middle Eastern perspective: probably unisex.

@@Persolaise Thanks. I have a poor success record with scents that have traditionally been marketed to women. Would be silly to pretend there isn’t some subconscious sabotage at work there, but I also think it’s because I just so happen to dislike those profiles. Alas. It’s expensive even to sample these days, so thanks for sparing me what would likely have been a wasted sample
