Ironically, the Statue of Liberty wasn't originally green. She is made of copper, and originally was shiny and, well, copper-colored. But due to oxidization, her color eventually changed to the minty green it is today.

I used to live in SanFrabsico. Very overrated. The traffic is a nightmare, especially when they decide to blow up the Golden Gate Bridge for yet another movie 🙄 Like, why not film in New York or Japan? A shame to see what all my tax payer money goes towards.

Funnily enough, the Great Wall of China was built by an emperor who wanted to be immortal, ironically that was his downfall as his cause of death is thought to be from taking mercury pills which he believed might cure death.

The Statue of Liberty is made of copper, which is reddish. She would’ve appeared pink immediately after construction. However, copper oxidizes into verdigris, which is green. I actually think that verdigris is a rather nice color. It’s also evenly matte and even protects the metal from further oxidization.

Nowadays, when restoring copper roofs and similar, they usually spray it with horsepiss to make it turn green faster. Apparently horsepiss does that faster than other alternatives.

I've taken that one very personally And the irony of going to an ~escape~ room after visiting Anne Frank's house (Also to be fair the London Eye is just a tourist trap. If you want to see London from above you can go to the dome in St Paul's Cathedral, it's cheaper. And there's an elevator)

I've visited almost all of those sites (save for the Great Wall and the terracotta statues) and had a great time at each. You have to wonder why some people even bother to leave their homes (or their local golf courses).

oh my god, the moment i saw “roundabout” i KNEW it was the Arc de Triomphe. i went on a trip to France in middle school with some classmates and that roundabout is TERRIFYING. it’s so chaotic. i almost got run over twice when i had the right of way. (also, no one ever crosses the roundabout to get there for that exact reason. i believe there’s an underground passage.)

I went on a school trip to Paris. Witnessed a car cross over 5 lanes to get off at the first exit and two crashes.... In like 10 mins. Mental. Edit: oh yeah, due to how chaotic it is, you're not even insured while driving there so doesn't matter who's fault it is; you pay.

I went to the Anne Frank house museum. My school was even named after her. I was still very young and understood how tragic it was. But on the same hand, i was very facinated. People were quiet and payed their respect. I'm happy i was able to experience it, especially before the big tree Anne looked at when she was still in hiding was still standing.

Funnily enough, they actually made the statue kind of almost pink. Decades of corroding influence of the elements just made it green.

I went to the Grand Canyon at the end of a long trip around the American Southwest where I saw multiple other large canyons. The Grand Canyon was supposed to be the grand finale to the vacation, but by the end we were all exhausted and just wanted to go home. Well, we got to the Grand Canyon, and it looked the same as all the other canyons, except noiser and more crowded. I literally said to the people I was traveling with, "it's just a big hole in the ground."
