That depends on the field you’re in. I graduated with a “bad” GPA from a business undergrad at a top school but got into Big Four with my networking skills and personality. My GPA was mostly bad because of my first two years bringing it down. I didn’t know what I wanted to do then. But we can’t say the same for someone applying for med school. GPA's definitely don't define how you'll end up. It mainly depends on your major, how hard you work, and.... jk, it's all about who you know and if your parents are rich. Jk again. So many things matter but your GPA is one of the least on the list.

I mean in math major, we don't usually have very high GPA except for some geniuses or extremely well prepared students(some people know everything even before they take the course, we have tons of those) , because the material are stupidly hard , so I think GPA is very major dependent.
@Revivalsoul24
3 жыл бұрын
@@existenceispain2074 I'll give you an anecdotal story. My bf majored in mechanical engineering and graduated with a poor gpa because he refused to put any effort into the art (elective courses), but he still got a great job after college making almost 6 figures. Some of his peers were the same way. I'm a recruiter for a DoD company where we mainly hire STEM majors, most of our candidates make 6 figures, I see their resumes (GPA's & their offer letters), and no, not everyone has a high GPA but yet they are getting amazing offers and roles.
@julieannelovesbooks

For me my average grades do matter, I want to get into a masters program where only 30 people get picked from thousands of applicants every year. Your grades factor in hugely. (In my country we don’t work with GPA, but I imagine it functions the same way as your average grade)
@Revivalsoul24
3 жыл бұрын
@@julieannelovesbooks Yes, for most school programs, your GPA matters. But we are talking about as a whole, in life. As in, in order for someone to be successful, a high GPA matters-it doesn't. My job is a perfect example, we have a Harvard student who graduated with a 4.0 making the exact same salary as someone who went to our local university with a much lower GPA and same degree. But these candidates ace the interviews and still know the core material. Some just don't put effort into their homework. Also, you can look up others like Stephen Graham who barely finished high school (had horrible grades) but he's a millionaire. That's the point I'm trying to make, the GPA isn't a major factor into someones success.

The red shirt guy literally says how GOA doesn’t define you, and then defines people with high GPA

Gee whiz, I definitely do not have that good of a GPA. Remember that you all are amazing and God has great plans for you no matter what your GPA is (and that your GPA definitely fluctuates depending on where you go to school and your major). Love you guys! Congrats to those in the vid that is super impressive!

watching this as a college dropout is Rough when they all are beating themselves up over a 3.6 or 3.9. but at the same time, good for them for having goals and wanting to be better.

being in college myself, i feel like having such a high gpa your sophomore year isn't that difficult.. all the times i stressed and cried over tests and grades were my junior and senior year classes; I'm definitely not saying its impossible to graduate with a gpa like 3.8 or 3.9, but its much harder to maintain in your later college years, for example a gpa of 3.6 is totally normal

Yea I agree with orange shirt guy. GPA doesn't define me. I'm a lot stupider than my GPA represents.
