After buying some bass wood and an entry level knife - I've made a few discoveries - I either have the dullest carving knife ever, the hardest bass wood on the planet,or the weakest grip of any man any where. My cuts are not even close to being as easy as yours.

unless u are going to carve a stick to resemble a stick, this is as basic as it gets homie. she gives you 4 steps in a row. one at a time. several times. i bet if you tried it. one step. pause video. 2 step. pause video. 3 step. pause video. 4 step. pause video. i bet you would have something similar. just cut away from your body and keep your fingers out of the way. mmmkay

(I know this is an older video, but that doesn't mean it's not still very helpful to us beginners) This is good. I still struggle getting proportions right on faces. That's OK if you're only carving woodspirits and fantasy stuff, but it's challenging for realistic stuff. This really helps. I'm going to do some practicing following along here. Thanks! (and subbed)
