The price is justified by its minimal design. This is a metal axe. One bridge pickup and one volume knob means less junk creating resistance between the signal and the output, and no extra magnetic pull on the strings from the unused pickups. One pickup/one knob guitars are a specific kind of beast. I have a heavily modified Jackson JS-22 7 string where I ripped out the neck pickup and put an Aztec calendar belt buckle over the hole. I replaced the bridge with an SD Black Winter, and switched out the tone knob for an overdrive knob (EMG Afterburner). The 3-way switch now toggles between coil split/humbucker with controls/pickup straight to output (bypass/blower switch)

@@CompanyGrip I was trying to emulate the ESP LTD Viper 7B; it's an offset SG shaped 7 string baritone with a single SD Black Winter. My first guitar as an Epiphone G400 Goth (matte black Epiphone SG with only a XII on the 12th fret, very similar to this guitar)

ZThis is my favorite configuration for guitars. Had a few, regretfully lost track of the skull and crossbones avril squire tele, a '13 special studio ES339 that only had one pup and no cutouts f-holes. Had a Fender Custom Shop 1997 Guild Polara S-100 with a brass nut, was my favorite player forever. This is the new replace and I loved Gib's Gothic Lines of guitars, but they were too thin and lightweighted.

@@TrailerDays from a far enough back perspective, the economic and contextual timeline that led to murdered out metal dudes getting in bidding wars over Hello Kitty and Avril Lavigne starter guitars from Target, 15, years ago, is absolutely hilarious. Single pickup, and bc Avril was the thing at the time, it was a punky little humbucker. Little did they know that they just made the most aggressive configuration for a branded Squier, then painted it pink and slapped a kitty on it haha. I love it.

@@southVpawI'm a fan of both Avril and Teles so I had all three of her sig models, the "TeleCoustic" with the twelfth fret skull on her murdered out acoustic as well as her solidbodies. Hello Kitty was a completely different and much worse guitar.

Typically id skip to the demo for these type of videos but the info parts are really good. Thanks for covering this!

Nice in depth review (and, as you say, there’s currently very little out there on this model). I bought this model a month or two ago…so light, comfortable, good looking and great sounding…I play it ALL the time. Extremely fun guitar to just grab and play, and available at an attractive price.

Man I really like the track "Balk and Bowl", I think a pinch harmonic thrown in would sound cool. Great review and demo as always.

Thanks! I think I came up with that when I did the Greeny review because it really showcased the phase reversal! Cheers mate!

I wonder if the body on this guitar has the same thickness as the Polara Deluxe?
