I'm 27 and I spent few thousands hours in GW1 as kid and couple of thousands in GW2. I gave up this addiction in 2016 but every time I want to give up on my life this OST gives me a lot of hope. The power of nostalgy soothes me and reminds about times when I didn't have to care about anything. Sometimes I cry, sometimes I think about all friends I made through all these years. Once a year I login to GW2 just to send reminders to my most important friends with my personal data. Even I tried to finish my GWAMM few months ago, but after all these years Tyrian explorer is still beyond me. I can't say if this game was good or I was extremely addicted, but it's still a huge part of my life.

This is why this soundtrack and frankly all of his work is legendary, it becomes part of the world rather than just a soundtrack to it.

DrjamesyFeelGood that's sad :/ but you can still try to play with your henchmen? I did that most of the time, however i played in 2012 for a few months. I didn't like it 100% cause there inviseble walls (you know what i mean, that you must follow the patchs. In Guild Wars 2 the world is so big and you can free explore the world, and even swimming (so beautiful underwaterworlds. You must try it again. :)

The nostalgia is almost tear enducing - this was my first MMO and I'll never forget the good, no mamzing time I had playing this game with friends i have to this day. Such a pity GW2 was so poor in comparison.

I dont mind them adding more levels, what bother me the most is how cutesy the story took a turn for. Asura's cracking jokes at the undead, or corrupted beings who are clearly suffering? A Sylvari threatening to beat people with seeds? Human pirates acting like stereotypical pirates saying "Yar". Guild Wars 1 was dark, the story was anything but happy, the people weren't generally cutesy, and the theme was more adult. What happened to that?

SuperPritchy Sorry dude, I disagree with you. I think there are a lot of really innovative features in GW2 that hasn't been used in other MMORPGs. That's why I really enjoyed GW2. Also, absolutely stunning scenery and graphics for a MMORPG. I love all the small references to GW hidden throughout GW2. With that said, I will never ever say that GW2 is better than GW. And right now, I'm just as nostalgic as the rest of you. I'm gonna go and weep on my bed for a while...

Guys, Cantha will most likely come back in GW2, just be patient, GW2 is still growing, it's not even 2 years old, be patient, I am sure patience will pay off! :)
@jackofthecoke
10 жыл бұрын
It's becoming less and less likely that will happen. They've said they're leaning toward making sure there is no single culture that stands out as they want everything to be a "fusion" of everything out there. That to me is disappointing. It's like being forced to live in a world where there are no foreign countries, no different cultures to explore and learn about.
@MistahRankin
10 жыл бұрын
chris9000 It's not even just that - the only reason it wasn't ever brought to fruition in GW2 was because there was a lot of backlash from Chinese and Korean gamers, because so much of Asiatic culture was assimilated into one representation. They didn't like it (even though the devs tried to ensure that there were enough specific things from everywhere to keep everyone happy).
@jackofthecoke
10 жыл бұрын
MistahRankin Really? I'm skeptical because I'm a second gen Korean American. I get that much of the western world views East Asians as a monolith with exotic cultural attributes. GW1 isn't the only game that assimilates aspects of different countries to create variations and hybrids. There's a debate on the reddit sub for GW2 as to whether the Charr in their arrogant and conquering tendencies represent America or the Germans. Some pretty fascinating and well-researched arguments.
@NaownGuildWars
10 жыл бұрын
MistahRankin It's true that some Asian gamers disliked how all of their cultures were essentially combined into one, but that wasn't the main reason why they couldn't. The main reason was because one high up Chinese guy at NCsoft didn't agree with it. Luckily for us, he doesn't work there anymore. So there's still a chance, or rather, a larger chance than before.

God the Shing Jea monastery track brings back so many memories. Factions was the first Guild Wars game I tried and I probably didn't even understand 90% of what was going on at that time. I played it (and finished it for the first time) again when Nightfall came out and recently I've been coming back to it only to find out it's not dead at all. Hundreds of people have gathered in Kamadan and active Guilds are found all over the place. It might not be as vibrant as it used to be but screw that. It's still every bit worth playing in 2019.

Man...this game.....I started back when factions came. I got prophecies from a friend, and then bought factions.... So many memories in this game, so many fun all-nighters in sorrow's furnace and FoW...friendships, and some people I met in there have been and continue to be life long friends. I love this game, still do... if only gw2 lived up to it's predecessor. :/

Thank you for the upload. I always thought that whoever wrote the scores for guild wars was one of the greatest video game music composers ever. When I first booted up Guild Wars back around when Prophecies was still in its first month, I would always idle the client in the background just for the music. Since then I've played the latest Elder Scrolls games. I always wondered why Oblivion's soundtrack sounded so nostalgic. Now I know that Jeremy Soule's music was its backbone. :') Skyrim's too.
