@The Machinist. Is there any special reason why you trim these books in this sequence? I was taught to trim the foredge first so the longest edge = stable against the backgauge. Then the foot trim and finally the head trim. So my sequence would be to place the pile of books to the right hand side of the cutter for the foredge trim. Backgauge pushes out and moves to final size plus head trim. Then place the pile to the left hand side of the cutter, with the compensation/swell pads for the spine, trim the foot. Backgauge moves to finished size. Then flip the pile over and trim the head. ( Can you put an extra push out function mark on this make of machine?) Backgauge then pushes pile forward and comes to foredge trim position to load next pile of books. Trimming the head and foot of the books at the left side of the machine is best practice This is because the knife bevel/knife shear action is more gradual on the left. If you work on the right side, the spines of the books get torn/damaged. Keep up your good work on your cutters! Stay safe and well.

Helo! You are correct if the book had three cuts = right side > bottom > top. But these books are trimmed on the side before the glue, see the cover has a fold on the right edge inwards. You are a good observer. Thank you for watching my video 👍🏻

It's not exactly the sequence you instructed me to do, but it's acceptable.

@The Machinist. O.K. So let me see if I've got this right. Because the cover of the book has a "throw - out page/flap" you needed to trim the foredge first. So did you "blind bind" the text pages first? Then trim to finished foredge size, and then bind the book blocks into the covers with a second pass through the binding machine. Good work sir!

@@markmiwurdz202 ...👍🏻 Yes Correct! I have to cut the text pages first and then glue the cover and them trim the bottom and top. Thank you for watching my video!
